Stage 4:
No new humans, weapons or buildings
No new Alien buildings or evolves
Spawned Humans GET BY DEFAULT:
Armour, Helmet
Spawned Aliens Start as Basilisk or Advanced Dretch (More HP, becomes translucent when still)
I was also thinking of a Ranged weapon Adv. Tyrant, but thats what everyone else has thought of anyways.
(It shoots an acid grenade that 'explodes' like the Acid Tubes do, and has the projectile properties of the Adv. Dragoon)

Why should humans spawn with larmor? That's pretty huge advantage... And what comes to aliens spawning as bigger ones: No thanks. I like dretch as it moves insanely fast and imo is harder to kill than a basilisk.

larmour is fine, the big advantage is the helmet.
Instead of S4 you could turn it into an S3 special structure, 6bp or so(as thats usually what people have left over) then a very long construction time and has low hitpoints.

Thats a bad idea...A Adv. Tyrant with a ranged weapon would make the aliens WAY TO POWERFUL.

Maybe a suicide bomber alien?
Each bombing costs you your precious evolve points, and try not to get shot down before you blow yourself up.
That, and watch your friendly fire.

it shouldnt do as much dmg as a grenade but have a big blast radius, in my opinion anyways

That wouldn't actually be an issue. Respawning with armour would be like /class larmour instead of /class rifle. Likewise, spawning as a tyrant (for instance) would be /class level4 but you could still use /class level0 to spawn as a dretch.
If you are an alien and your team has S2 or S3 and you want to build somewhere an advanced granger can't get, you can use /class builder to spawn as a regular S1 granger.

Instead of trying to find a way to balance a S4 why dont you first try to explain WHY A STAGE 4 IS NEEDED ?
IMO :
- S1 = Skirmish : rifle vs dretch. Everyone is warming up.
- S2 = Starting the real thing : Move out of your base and start toying with the defs
- S3 = Big destruction : Time to get the ennemy base down.
What s the point of a S4 ? Once you can find me a good reason to implement a S4, we may speak about what should be in this Stage 4.
However i must admit you re proposing something new i.e. no new building, only an help for respawn. So here is my opinion about it :
i think that will make the game longer and boring for everyone. The destruction of the ennemy base will be delayed without adding anything to gameplay. This is especially true if the human base is under siege : it can often stay up and running until SD when tyrants rush...With no more naked humans, tyrants will have a lot less spare points and will keep them until SD.

S1 (first 2 minutes): Getting 3 Evo points
S1 (Rest of time): Destroying human's base
S2: Zapping down running humans
S3: ... Never reached

Well, that isn't a problem really. Either make the price of those items 0 or give at the spawn a special version of those items that sells for 0.

Why not bump existing s3 to s4, and stick another stage in betwwen s1 and s2, or s2 and s3.

wouldnt it be easier to just make a stage 4 instead of stickin a stage inbetween s1 and 2 or s2 and 3 cuz then you wouldnt have to move different classes, weps, etc you can get at those stages atm around.

This is so that when a mara jumps base and starts chewing on the reac, the picture gets fuzzy on the TV's and they notice that power outage might follow.
It gets boring sitting on turrets for so long.
Give hummies some entertainment.
As fars as aliens;
S2 aliens get iPod nanos so they can listen to music while camping the hummie base. S4 they get MacBook Pro's...for checking e-mail, etc.
Aliens get bored sitting around corners as well.
On a serious note.
What we need are new maps, new weapons/classes and new structures.
NOT new stages.

Protoss could need twice as many kills to stage advance, and zerg could need 1/2 as many as humans. That might balacne it some, along with Protoss stuff costing more and zerg stuff costing less, etc.

Why not AvP instead? At least pick a game of the right genre :-) Imagine the predator wiping out the alien base as they are wiping out the human base as the humans are out hunting for the predator.

Note : I know this post could be seen as Off-topic, but i dont think the idea of Stage 4 need any more posts...no one is able to explain why a Stage 4 is needed or what will be its purpose so this topic doesnt have any point.

Because Starcraft was the first game to introduce 3 DIFFERENT YET BALANCED races. Many games managed to have 2 different races but balancing three is something few games managed to do. You couldn t play with the Zergs in the same way you played with the Protoss or the Humans. Zergs was about rushing endlessly with tons of cheaps units. Protoss was about making a strong base, and then come out with small squadrons of strongs units. Even Humans in the middle didn t play the same way Zergs and Protoss played : their units were too expensive to play like a Zerg yet not as efficient as the Protoss ones.
Warcraft 2 was good, very fun to play, but there was only 2 races, and there wasn t much difference between them.
Moreover, Starcraft had a great solo campaign with a great scenario in a new, well-thought and believable Universe (is there a Starcraft player that can forget Kerrigan ?).
Warcraft was set in a more common universe (heroic-fantasy game or yet another Elf+Human vs Orc battle) and the solo campaign wasn t very original.
About the "choose the right genre", AvP is all about the abilities of the players ;) It doesn t have buildings like Tremulous.
When you say "Protoss" everyone knows you re talking about tough warriors, but also great base defense. When you say "Zerg" everyone knows you re talking about shitty but cheap unit, with not-so-good base.
