Title: Maps on SST
Post by: doomagent13 on November 06, 2006, 10:26:56 pm
2 questions:

1.  what maps does SST have?

2.  what is the default map rotation?

ive kept fairly up-to-date on maps, and if u search the forum, procyon beta1 was released 10-15-06, so its been out for twenty-some days. seems kinda odd that it only just showed up on tremulous.info

Its not odd : Megabite doesnt  play anymore and seldom comes to the forums.
So he missed a lot of the new stuff that came out theses past 2 months.
Ingar (on my advice) had to mail him to get him to put his map on Tremulous.info

Tremulous.info isn t the best place anymore to get the latest info/update on Tremulous. That's sad because there isn t any website to replace it.

All the others websites put every single pk3 they can find on the forums, regardless of their quality : map with shitty gameplay (highrise)/beta with huge FPS issues (aegis station)/unplayable alpha (labyrinth)...

At least Megabite tried the maps and only took the worthy ones. This helped Tremulous to keep only the good maps. Now you can release almost anything, and you ve got some chances that some servers will use it.

Which generally takes between what, 20 minutes to 2 hours?

EDIT unless you do this: http://tremulous.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=2421

Some quick googling revealed that http://tremulous.bricosoft.com/base/ has a pretty decent map collection.

Uhm, I'm really wondering, how many servers have hamunaptra in the daily map rotation

Never thought, this port could get so popular ;)

DASPRiD, MG Central has Hamanuptra in rotation on Mondays, and it is commonly voted in.  The only reason it isn't in full rotation is cause if freezes tremulous when played from my linux install :( (I suspect the linux ATI drivers strike again)

Your map is quite good, very rich with varied gameplay.

You can download it from ftp://ftp.bricosoft.com/incoming/maps
Bricosoft is quite fast in installing the latest maps. It has atcszalpha-b2 too.

Made incoming writable only, not readable, get the map via:

http://tremulous.bricosoft.com/base

There is a nightly big backup of all *.pk3.

[re-reads thread]

Paradox...

What I meant with question one was more along the lines of "Are there any other votable maps not in the rotaton?"

I dont know if its just me, but there seems to be a missing close brace before Niveus in the map rotation, and unless you changed it, it still says just "atcszalpha" not "atcszalpha-b1"

Most of the beta maps are voteable, they are linked to the sst host for the infobase.

As for the ATCS alpha, that is a problem, avenger fixed it, and we are waiting for the new version to go to the infobase.
The problem is the bsp file in the pk3 was named the same for both versions, and that is what the game recognises. Avenger fixed it so it is atcszalphab1, by renaming the file, and when mega updates the infobase, it will be on there. I know how to do it for the server, so i have 2 copies, but one of them is locked out.

asterman "fixed" it (http://tremulous.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=2464) (not that it was much of a problem on pure servers).
