I get this message when I have created a server and begins to load.
menu file not found: ui/hud1.txt. using default
On Irc they told me I'm missing a ui file
Is this the problem?? How can I get an ui file??
-
Have you tried downloading every file for the second time yet?
-
Man... there are so many files. But I'll give it a try.
[edit]ok so now I have downloaded the Miscellaneous, UI Assets, QVM Files, UI Files and Other required files. And I still get the same message.
-
You should have 54 pk3 files in your tremulous directory. Delete any other files and try again.
-
You really think the game.log file or the q3config.cfg could cause this problem?
-
[15:03:30] <Timbo`> Crylar: try deleting all your trem .cfg files
[15:03:39] <Timbo`> then check you have all the files
[15:03:44] <Timbo`> then try again
the cfg might cause a problem I guess :P
-
Maybe try repatching with latest quake3 patch.
It's probably some small stupid problem.
-
Nope none of it helps, I repatched it with 1.32 and removed the log file and the config, but it didn't work. I got the same message
-
Weird.
If under windows 98 or xp, run cmd or command, goto tremulous folder and type "dir > list.txt". Post contents of list.txt.
Also post the properties of the shortcut your starting q3 with.
IRC would pobably be handiest for help.
-
When I type"dir > list.txt" nothing happens.
and my shortcut looks like this -
"D:\Games\Quake III Arena\quake3.exe" +set fs_game tremulous +set cl_allowDownload 1 +set com_hunkmegs 100
Yeah IRC would pobably be handiest for help. But I like forums.
-
It makes a list.txt file in your tremulous directory filled with the output of the dir command.
-
Ohh!
Well this is the list.txt file

I'm surprised that deleting .cfg files hasn't helped.
I've found a half-bug that might have caused your problems, download the new vms module to see. If that doesn't help, try typing the following into the console:
\ui_menuFiles ui/menus.txt
\cg_hudFiles ui/hud.txt
-
OK, so I downloaded the new files, took away the cfg file and the and the log file, but still the same message appears. So I delite the cfg file and the log file again and in the console i added \ui_menuFiles ui/menus.txt and
\cg_hudFiles ui/hud.txt but when I added \cg_hudFiles it said the command didn't exist.
Umm, and in the console after the game has freezed it says
Loading vm file vm/ui.gym.
VM file ui compiled to '(lots of numbers)' byte of code
ui loaded in '(lots of numbers)' bytes on the hunk
UI menu load time = 424 milli seconds
UI menu load time = 67 milli seconds
UI menu load time = 60 milli seconds
don't know if this has to do with this, it could.

I copied my Tremuluos map to my brothers computer, to see if it was only my computer the problem was on, but when I strted it on his computer the same message appeared. So the problem most be in ouer version or something.
I have original Q3(bought) 1.32 and no TeamArena what so ever.
Comeon and help me, I really want to test this.
-
Not finding cg_hudfiles suggests it is loading the wrong vms; i.e. it is loading the default Q3 game instead of Trem.
It would help if you described the problem a little better. What do you do step by step, what do you see on the screen and when does it fail? Does this only happen with your map or with every map? Have you tried running with +set sv_pure 0 on the commandline?
-
I open my q3 through my shortcut(or chose it in the "mod" menu) I click on "Play!", "Creat Server" and "Creat", the screen goes "Starting up" and afer 20 - 40 sek the error message come up.
This happen on every map.
-
I'm running out of suggestions really. The correct vms are obviously being loaded or you wouldn't see the Tremulous splash screen. But, try these things:
In addition to deleteing .cfg files in your tremulous directory, delete any files in your baseq3 directory other than those named pak*.pk3
Check the integrity of your ui*.pk3 files by opening them in a compression program such as winzip.
What is the output of "\com_hunkMegs" in the console? (hint: use "\condump filename.txt" to write the console output to a file)
-
Have you tried loading a map directly? /devmap trem2
-
If it really doesn't work, someone could share their quake3 folder through ftp perhaps.
-
:o
OHH!!! FUCKING HELL IT SON OF A WORKS!!!
:-?
I'm so sorry for all this. Well the thing was that I hadn't delited the old ui file, I had downloaded the new, but I thouhgt it replased the file.
Well thanks to all you who helped!!

-
You are stupid.
-
And the same to you Who

There was this cvar to toll Trem what *.txt to use for the UI. I changed that cvar to /ui/hud.txt when I started playing Trem. Godmil might remember that problem, even Godmil sending me all his UI files could not help it.
