Title: Ubuntu Edgy
Post by: David on November 11, 2006, 10:09:41 pm
Has anyone installed it?  Was it worth it?
I was going to this weekend, but I have read a lot of negative reactions to it, and am having second thoughts.
I cant really afford to be without a computer for any time...

It's ok. There really isn't anything wrong with it, as long as you install it clean, and not as an upgrade.

After you install it, you should add my repository to your sources.list. It contains a fixed libsdl1.2debian that fixes the brightness issue in the stock ubuntu version.

Code: [Select]
deb http://www.zergrushgogo.com/repository edgy main

After that, just sudo apt-get update, then sudo apt-get install libsdl1.2debian.

However, I put up my own repository for my own needs(as in, for my computer). I'm not sure if the version on my repository is compiled for my system or not, so use it at your own risk.

Plus, my repository is probably in violation of the GPL anyway, what with no sources included. If someone can tell me how to create a source package for a patched version of libsdl1.2debian, it would be greatly appreciated.

Arch Linux (http://www.archlinux.org/) for the win!
