Ever notice how when you shoot that enemy alien/human, it doesn't feel like your doing damage? Yet when you are being attacked, you notice every hp digit lower.
I personally think this is because the lack of knockback or animations( eg when a tyrant gets shot it rears up on it's back legs)
My shotgun feels like it's just scratching those tyrants, and my rifle is laughable.
I propose a knockback system, so when an alien gets shot, they will move slower, as well as have a slightly knockback( shotgun and Mass driver would have an instant knockback, while a chaingun or a lasgun will have smaller, repeated knockbacks)
Any opinions?

not much, i cant disagree with you; it would make the game more realistic and help balance the 2 sides better

Any server owner can boost knockback, its just we dont.

It's ridicuously hard to notice with the current speed of aliens.

It's fine, don't touch it. When you hit something it bleeds, what else do you want?

have you guys never played as aliens before for somthing?
theres noticable knockback for all aliens (atleast on the servers i play on)

It bleeds and it whines when damaged, you don't really need to know much more lol.
Any admin who messes with knockback or its opposite should be shot.

Nothing bleeds in the game right now, there had been lots of talking about this... What the topic starter said, some kind of hit animation would be nice to see, sounds just aren't satisfying enough.

There are hit animations, however because of the q3 engine, and the way the alien models are made, these animation can only play when the alien is not moving... which means pretty much never.
And I have yet to see something not bleed when I shoot it.

Anyway, the small round things hardly look like blood, and I hate to see same hardly noticeable thing every single time when I hit an alien, I think that rifle and MD should have some difference in the way their hit damage is presented.

How about this, make your own server, turn knock-back up, and see what happens.
Want to have tyrants flying across the room from a blaster?
Want to bounce high when you fall from heights?
Want to be pushed off ledges to your doom by sniper goons?
Fine, do it on your own server.

I agree that the wapons seem a bit.... ..wussish, but this is not because of the alien's "response" to being hit, its rather the sounds (they need more bass, they are to sharp to sound forceful enough for my weapon taste)
also, the guns need some more animating, not like moving parts of the gun, only moving the gun as you shoot, like a machinegun shaking slightly in your hands as you shoot or the shotgun getting a kickback in your hands in a more "persuasive" way.
i mean, the guns there are now, are just too steady, the only real weapon that would have this little recoil or so is the small, shitty guns, or the wussily high- tech ones.
What we want is more badass, dirty guns made of rough steel.
if you didnt care to read all this, here is a summary.
I want a small texture change, i could possibly do this myself by editing the existing ones, but i'd probably give up.
I want some changes in weapon animation while firing, for more natural gun recoil.
And last, but not least, iwant other sounds with more bass, with a bit more "thud" to it. look to enemy territory for a good example.

My knockback idea means each weapon has a different knockback( so no blasters launching a tyrant across the map)
A shotgun should stop most aliens in their tracks, or atleast LOOK painful.

Maybe, if you people just opened your eyes and looked at what is happening on your screen, instead of looking at your turrets to make sure you can still camp on them, you would already have noticed that Aliens bleed and have a non-existent hit animation.

I play both relatively evenly.
It's harder to play alien with 30 fps though, so i'm waiting for my good comp to be fixed.

Now i'm also into this. a shotgun in the face of an alien the size of a plate, should knock it back REAL GOOD.

and if you don't see the green "blood" when hitting an alien you gotta be blind Oo

Yeah, the crysounds, I know. You didn't get the point.
I can hear aliens hitting humans. I can hear aliens getting hurt bad. I can hear an alien building getting hit. I can even hear the ricochets from the walls..
but I can't hear aliens getting hit!!!
That's why it feels like the guns aren't doing any damage.

well shooting anything that isn't a solid object like a wall won't make much of a sound as the flesh mutes the sound of the impact.
Buy a crossbow and shoot yourself in the leg and see if you can hear it :D

blasters dont knock tyrants back, even at 999999 knockback...i tried it yesterday...twas fun for a lil bit but got kindof annoying...the only weap that knocked tyrants back at all that i saw was MD i didnt use flamer or luci at all those few matches tho...luci might have a kick for tyrant
