Title: temporary bugfix pack before new version, Download HERE
Post by: rasz_pl on November 27, 2006, 12:09:06 pm
server browser:
-sort by ping
-mouse wheel scroll

overall:
-pointer disappears after failed server join FIX
-options in main menu

additionally on unpure servers:
-cg_disableWarningDialogs 2 = no warnings FOR REAL
-proper Alien Radar
-mouse wheel scroll in Vote menu (scroll player names/maps)

TJW binary (http://trem.tjw.org/backport/README.txt) adds:
-HTTP/FTP downloads
-R1CH's Alt-Tab fix
-cl_guid
-many more fixes under the link

Download link : bugfixpack.zip (http://www.keepmyfile.com/download/b9aae01227827)

Installation
Linux - unpack to /home/insert your user name/.tremulous/
you should get 3 new folders "gfx", "ui" and "vm"
download http://trem.tjw.org/backport/linux/tremulous.x86
put in the main tremulous folder, the one you installed tremulous in, so its /home/insert your user name/tremulous/ if you installed the game as a user.

Windows - unpack to "drive letter":\Documents and Settings\insert your user name\Local Settings\Application Data\Tremulous\
you should get 3 new folders "gfx", "ui" and "vm"
download http://trem.tjw.org/backport/win32/tremulous.exe
put in the main tremulous folder, the one you installed tremulous in, so its C:\Program Files\Tremulous\ if you installed the game to program files

Mac - PwNz!:
unpack to home(insert your user name)/library/application support/tremulous/
you should get 3 new folders "gfx", "ui" and "vm"
download http://trem.tjw.org/backport/mac/tremulous.dmg
put in the ... hmm :) put it whe .. hmm, no idea where to put that one :P I have to get a mac damnit ;)

ps: "insert your user name" means exactly what it means :)
ps2: yes, it works, your trem will use those custom files every time you are not on the server
ps3: it would be nice if moderator would "sticky" this topic here or in Troubleshooting.
ps4: yes, im still pedaling my alien radars version :P

how about the guid?  Http downloads?

Does this client version support those things that so many of us have come to rely on TJW's backport build for?  I just don't want to break those 2 things should I switch.  If you don't respond, I'll test it anyways :)

Also, THANKS!!!  :D  :D
Bugfix releases are much needed IMHumbleO

That stuff is implemented in tjw's backport, which, if you look very closely, is one of the things you are told to download.

...still no "sort-by-ping" available.  (winxp)

-Replaced "C:\Program Files\Tremulous\tremulous.exe" with ^^

-Extracted zip
->first to "C:\Program Files\Tremulous\base\..."
   (eg. "C:\Program Files\Tremulous\base\gfx") No luck
->then to "C:\Program Files\Tremulous\..."
   (eg "C:\Program Files\Tremulous\gfx")

Still no sort by ping.  Any ideas why?

Thanks in advance.

erm? every bit of my code is in bugzilla :). Btw why arent Peoro and Napkin patches there? I'm a little affraid they wont make to next version without being in bugzilla/svn, and that would be bad.

rasz, i have no clue if they post to bugzilla or not.
All I know is that I myself would not put up my patches onto bugzilla, as bugzilla is out of my control and not a proper place to post enhancements .)
I stick to the old school style and distribute binaries with the source in one place :)

actually Timbo encouraged me to put enhancements in bugzilla

I'm glad we finally have an options menu in the main screen!!!
Now if only it was Mac compatible…

It is mac compatible.
Extract the files in
home(yourusernamething)/library/application support/tremulous
and there you have it :)

The creators of Bugzilla use Bugzilla for bugs and RFEs. They use the Bugzilla Bugzilla for that too.

because I'm lame :) and zip files take time to extract :P
next version of trem should use ordinary folders instead of zip files, faster and cleaner, pure check could be made on individual files, or even  actual loaded data

why would I? Q3 engine (and ioquake) reloads virtual machine files on every map/server change, so every time you quit a server/start trem/join server it reloads the data using what you or server tells him to load (in that order, if you are the server it loads what you got locally, if server forces pure it loads servers approved pk3s). Server browser is accesible only when not connected to any server = with local data loaded to virtual machine

mechanism:
it generates crc for eachfile in x.pk3
then generates md4 checksum of x.pk3 from those crc's
the files cgame/game/ui.qvm has special flags

for pure servers it sends pure checksums of referenced pk3 files and cgame/game/ui.qvm

pure checksums are generated from normal checksums
but they are unique to each server ( well dunno why :P )

it was a good mechanism till quake3 went opensource well still not too bad

I guess you all knew it cheaters :D

I still wonder why server sends me hp's of all clients USEFUL

Just a query, could this (tjw's backport and/or the bugfix) be responsible for the terrible ping I've had the last 2/3 days?  I'd put it down to problems with Greece's backbone/my isp if I hadn't (coincidently) installed this stuff.  Anyone got any info?

I installed the patch and new Tremulous.exe as it indicates in the first post, and now Tremulous hangs every time I query server info, forcing me to reboot. Has anyone else encountered this, and what might I be doing wrong?

hangs as in computer frozen, or game just sits there in server browser?

Sorry, was in a bit of a rush this morning so wasn't specific. Hangs as in computer frozen. I'm running a Windows (*spit*) system. I select a server, click the button for server info and the music stops and cursor flashes in and out of view. If I then click the arrow to try joining I get around a 1 second loop of the music (which sounds pretty cool, btw) and nothing else happens. Alt-Tab doesn't work, Alt-Enter doesn't work, Ctrl-Alt-Del doesn't work. The most annoying part (aside from not being able to play, of course) is that the computer reboots with a lousy screen resolution, which rearranges all my desktop icons. I'm tempted to do a fresh install of the official Tremulous release and live without the nice upgrades, unless someone has a solution.

try to redownload http://trem.tjw.org/backport/win32/tremulous.exe
it has nothing to do with qvm files
hmm Q3 engine acts like computer just froze when it loads the map, so maybe its just loading the map and the screen didnt refresh, did you wait long enough?

The most reliable indicator of OS crash is Numlock key. If you press it a few times and the keyboard LED indicator doesn't toggle, Windoze has crashed. Otherwise it's just the program.

Thanks for your help. Redownloading the program seems to have helped. In retrospect, it seems that the crash was caused by faulty communication with my firewall (Zonealarm) as whenever a program changes, Zonealarm asks for permissions, and it didn't in this case until I downloaded the tremulous.exe file again.

maybe I missed something, but wasn't this supposed to make the main menu options the same as the in game options menu?
I downloaded bugfixpack and tremulous.dmg 2007-02-17. I extracted the contents of bugfixpack into ~/Library/Application Support/Tremulous, and replaced the old app package with the new one... same old options menu.
