So i've been tinkering with gtk trying again and again and yet there is failure.

youll have to tinker a bit.  i had a touch of trouble trying to configure radiant, but at the time i didnt have an internet connection.  makes things difficult.  just uninstall radiant, reinstall, then follow the steps exactly again.

then the solution is easy.  get some sleep, and try again in the morning, when your less frustrated and there are more ppl to kill :)

I managed to install GtkRadiant 1.5 for linux and for windows. I admit
I had few problems, but I was able to resolve them all after a rechecked the available documentation (the mapping wiki comes to mind).

Some general hints if you want to report software problems:
- Mention your Operation System
- Mention the version of all software involved
- Try to write a decent problem description: just telling
" it doesn't work" will get you the answer "it does for me"
Do you get an error message? Is something not working as it should? What?

This is not inteded as a flame on the parent post. It's just a general problem
that most people are not able to write down a decent error report and just assume everybody can sense what is going wrong.

I set it up using the guide.. it worked perfectly.. the only problem was it moaned about the synaptic file.. so i simply got it from the install guide from a previous version and it worked perfectly.. chances are.. if it doesn't work.. you didn't follow the instructions right.

I solved this problem lol when u making a file trem.game. u must CHANGE format form txt. to game. u can do this in folder options (u must unmatch "Hide the popular file extension" or something like that)

I think that this will help you!

BTW I was making map 3 hours and that GTK CRASHED... OMG!!! I'm SO PISSED OFF! F*CK!

Sry for my English

Hit the "P" key for Preference, go to "Autosave" option, check "enable autosave", choose the frequency (5 min is a good value). If you are paranoid (like me) check also the "Save snapshots" option.
I hope it could help... ;)

PS : indications for GtkR 1.5, but probably the same for olders versions.

i've got the same problem, synpase server initialisation failed (see console).
I'm using Gtk radiant 1.4, unchecked the hide extension thing, followed jex's his guide and uninstalled and reïnstalled it multiple times.
I'm using vista, and i think i installed everything right (this time :P).
And srry for necroing this topic but if i made a new one, i would probally get scolded for not using the search button ^^

But to make a long story short, what is the reason for the 'synpase server initialisation failed' thing?
