At the moment, I am finding being an alien very hard, especially when I climb on walls. Very often, the walls and the ceiling are not where near as flat as the floor, and you get very easily confused where you are. With 3rd person, you would be able to see where you are, and not have the camera shaking as much.
I don't think it will remove any of the capabilities of aliens since most do not do not have any shooting function. For the ones who do have such a function, I guess we could make a type of pointer where the thing they shoot is going to land. Of course, to avoid having a perfect aim, the pointer will indicate the area where it is going to land, instead of the exact spot.
Of course, humans would not be able to have this 3rd person mode since it will be hard to them to shoot.

why not post this in the already made thread about 3rd person view instead of creating an entirely new one?
-
umm, which post? I saw one about a mod, but that's different.

3rd person doesn't matter for Aliens as they already have radar anyway. The "cheating" nature of 3rd-person is the fact that you can look around walls. With radar you already can.
-
Well, if everyone, or all aliens can see around corners, how is it a cheat? Isn't a cheat the fact of having an unfair advantage?
I guess it would become annoying for the humans, so I guess we could implement an optional 3rd person view for the humans (where they can move, but if they shoot, it is totally random),

not really, for example niveus human base right corridor, you cant see aliens arround the corner on the radar, you can with 3rd person

Play Balance Mod revision 9. Turn on 3rd person mode with: \cg_thirdPerson 1

All you have to do is move up a few inches for it to kick in.

The point is a human could be waiting there with 3d person, see the alien coming while he isn't on it's radar and give it a shotgun/10 point luci blast in its face.

But think how hard it would be to line up that shot.
And if you miss, you are pretty screwed.

Why not just turn off the wallwalk pitching in your options? Then the camera wouldn't dodge up and down even if you're on a jagged wall (like in nexus6).

Because I already coded 3rd person view into Balance Mod rev 9 and it kicks ass. 8)
