I noticed that it is primarily TJW running SVN updates now. Who is responsible for releasing new client versions? Is Timbo around? Is there a timetable, plan, or set of goals for the next version (i.e. feature freeze)?
The reason I ask is because I split Balance mod into something like 10 patches last night and I plan to spam bugzilla with them later tonight. Balance mod has some battle-tested enhancements that would be good for Tremulous base. At the very least the radar and chat bubbles should be seriously considered.

I just like to point out that my radar is better :P and allready in bugzilla as a patch :]
seriously Risujin try it for a day. It lets you CLEARLY see what is a unit and what is a buildable, and the distance is way more readable.

no, I just played with my radar for a few days, then tried balance (ignoring 160 ping:/) and hated the radar, then went back to normal trem and HATED the radar even more :). Besides its the SAME CODE (:P) + 8 lines to make units/buildables more prominent, and distance clearer. Now that I know how good and informative the radar can be I am dying (in my head :P) every time I play alien :)

Then shouldn't you remove all enhancements (such as rasz's radar) from bugzilla? I am not talking about uploading patches changing tyrant range here. :evil:
If you are not interested in changing the client code, say so and the rest of us won't waste our time.

Ok maybe not but the patches in question are:- Enable limited 3rd person mode
- Chat bubbles + graphics
- Construction kit effects + cooldown
- Donate command
- Improved cg_disableWarningDialogs
- !slap + sound effect (no ones seen this yet hehe)
- Radar patch + graphics
- Zoom using +zoom AND right mouse button
The rest are the "questionable" patches which I would NOT put on bugzilla:- Telenode teleportation
- Devolution
- Tranqsaw
- Bile dretch
- New voting system
- Balance-specific tweaks

rasz your Trem patches kick ass and I don't want a flame war developing here. We have two different radars and we each prefer our own (duh). I doubt either of our new radars will be used in a new Tremulous version anyway. Timbo will ultimately decide, its his baby and if he wants an ugly radar so be it.

Well I paid attention to not only those threads but actual games played with this. It is not practical to cheat with it. Yes you can see around corners but you have to be right at the corner to do it. Big advantage? I dont think so.

Using the construction kit makes blue sparks. The cooldown modification allows you to cooldown the ckit when your blaster is out.

This is an improvement on it, hence "improved". It allows you to block out "you must be ... " and "unknown class" etc messages with cg_disableWarningDialogs by turning them into Tremulous menu events as they should have been to begin with. Of course you need a client modification as well.

Kevlarman if it were up to you, SVN would be frozen permanently. These patches have been tested and the feedback has been all positive.

i would like to have radar show friendly units for aliens, but i was replying from a "how likely it is to get accepted" standpoint

there is no reason for the +zoom command to exist for a single weapon, i agree that any mods built from svn should add +zoom to work now, but the next release should get rid of it. edit: if it were up to me, we would have had 2 or 3 releases by now just for the bugfixes in svn.

Yes I was, but this command is hillarious. Admins have the option to disable it so we'll let them judge who can and can't. That was the verdict from the abuse thread anyway.

I think "theyre not likely to use it" isnt a reason not to put it in. If its there to tempt 'em, maybe someone will come around. ;)

Thats true but you can say that about a LOT of code in Tremulous. There are a lot of Quake 3 appendices hanging around still (do a search for rail gun...).

Imo its a MUST HAVE feature for the spectators, using it as a player could be toggleable by server ops.

I love the idea, just add the ability for a player to toggle if he wants to show the bubble to others and does he want to see others bubbles and it will be perfect.

my patch only made this option REALLY disable warning dialogs, Risujin version makes ALL the server spam act according to this option, its a MUST. Now I use custom client binary and filter every single server spam like "must be near power to blablabla" :/. This server makes the game act like its suppesed to in the first place.

His spams are usually pretty small, and sometimes humorous. Yours was massive and inspired people to simply quote you over and over again, destroying the thread and ripping a hole in the internet, causing a breach in the space time continuum and putting all of our lives in peril.
I hate deleting things like that.. but you left me no choice... i did it.. because i care..

game(server) sends player HP data to cgame (client) if teamoverlay is set to 1
so it may not be sending death count to cgame (client)

death count is send when client asks for the SCOREBOARD results, it has nothing to do with normal frame data
