Credit where credit is due. And payment where payment is due.
Since you have your own server, you should also host the map-pack by yourself instead of stealing traffic from other server.

No biggie. The MG Map mirror is open for ALL to use.

Feel free to use if for anything.

Side note: I doubt 3 kids downloading the map-pack is going to hurt :-P

it would be stealing if you didn't get permission, the server owner has to pay for every gigabite downloaded from/uploaded to the server.

Yes you did miss the part where a third person uses the repository of the first to invite others to download them. This is called stealing of traffic .=)
And it is usually NOT done w/o the prior OK of the hoster, else you could be liable for compensation. (do the math... here we have map-pack of about 180mb, just 11 ppl d/l would mean 2GB traffic)
Besides it always gives a bad reputation to one doing the propagation .)

Why is everyone making a mountain out of a molehill. If maps are put up to be used by one clans server, and other people can access them they are allowed to download them, who gives a damn about bandwidth. If they were for clan members or certain people only maybe the download should be passworded.

i wasn't blaming you, since you did have permission to post that link, but correcting the missconception that it wouldn't be stealing if you didn't get permission first or rehost it on your own server.

Evlesoa, if they are concerned about you using their traffic, just go to the link at the bottom of this post. That is what I use, and when I played on MG for a little while it had all the maps I needed for my time being there. Just let people know that this only finds and downloads the map, so it might take a little while for all the maps to finish downloading, so probably starting this program a day in advanced will help. Now I'm not sure if this is the one I have, but I remember finding it on tremulous.info and it was the only one there.

One download won't hurt anything. I think i'm going to go post all the maps in one large zip file and throw them on various p2p sites. Than we use no bandwidth from servers, only our own computers because obviously it is an offense to use a websites bandwidth that you do not belong to, yet still is readily available.

Links to resources will follow.

Don't worry, if you have a map downloaded already the automatic map downloader won't download it.

1. The argument was theoretical.  Besides, Khalsa, who is the server operator for the server that hosts the MG map pack, has said in the past that I am allowed to "advertise" it.  Frankly, he is the one to thank for allowing us to use such a generous amount of bandwidth :)

2. DODFlux, I have suggested elsewhere that someone should hosts a seed for a torrent of the MG map pack (or any map pack really), you are certainly welcome to.  I would have done so myself, but I host the MG Beta server out of my connection, so torrents are out of the question :)
