Maybe this is too much to ask.
I *really* hate it when two teams have played a long, serious game on a base-ff server, and a human new to the game (or unaware that ff is on) drops a grenade in the base. The worst part is seeing it happen, and not being able to stop it.
So, enough whining, heres my lame idea:
If a human with a good understanding of the game saw a grenade dropped in the humane base, they could walk on top of it, crouch, and sacrifice themselves to minimalize the damage caused by the grenade. Maybe the 'nade would kill the human, but do just half the damage it normally would, and with half the blast range.

Or maybe not allow idiots to get on your team?

So... either you didn't understand the suggestion, didn't understand the bug you linked to, or you're just trolling. As I see it, the only way that this could possibly help is to kick the grenadier before the 'nade detonates. Even with a highly organized team, this would be almost impossible unless an admin happens to see it.
KamikOzzy:
I think it's a good idea, but it obviously won't help if the rest of the team are out of the base, or if the 'nade lands somewhere a hummie won't fit (between two buildings / between building and wall).
<halfserious>What if hummans could 'kick'?
Dretch at your feet? kick it away, then shoot it.
Basi got a hold (from the front)? - see above.
'nade lands somewhere bad? kick it to somewhere safer.

You could let humans defuse grenades or something instead, basically makes the grenade inert and then fade away.
Granted kicking would be good for playing hot potato with dretches.
-
I think all guns weapons should do zero damage. That will solve the problem.
-
grab dretches with your bare hands and start biting their legs
-
If someone drops a grenade on the base accidentally, switching teams will prevent any damage (with that bug fixed). If someone does it on purpose, OMGOMGOMGOMG IT DID WHAT IT WAS SUPPOSED TO!!!111!
Don't complain about friendly fire when your complaint is that it works the way it is supposed to.

How about just make the nade not do any damage to team structures?
This is a stupid topic.
-
Because people would grenade the base to keep Tyrants away?

I would drown my base in grenades.

See what I mean?

200 $ per grenade + Enough dmg to kill you + Enough dmg to buildings to keep your builder busy a long while (he asked for reduced dmg, and not for 0 dmg)...
I dont think the rain of grenades would last long.

unless i camp like a whore and buy 10 nades one after the other.

lolzilla :D
kicking a grenade sounds cheap... so you drop it on right front of the door, and open the door and kick it! That's like throwing grenades except it takes few more seconds
-
Of on a tangent, is it possible to cook grenades by holding the button?

no
-
And I'm glad it's not.
310 damage is a hell of a lot of damage, plus it would allow you to throw grenades more accurately.
-
Watching the noobs forget to let go would probably be worth it.
Cannot shoot or reload while cooking, your hands are busy.
-
if you could kick grenades then it would be also a great idea to kick dretches! :D

it would be also a great idea to kick dretches! :D
Most admins can already do that
