tremulous is one of the best games i ever played, but also one of the most frustrative games
few things/questions
Why do you attack an deconned enemy base? and still say GG at the end?
lack of skills? or just PL/CZ/BR or FR ppl? if so more servers should be like SATGNU
Why are people always acting so PRO and trying to let others look like noobs?
this mostly happends when ppl camp to S3 and flame/luci there way to enemy base and still shout OWNED... big question mark here
anyways, maybe its just my imagination, but isnt beeing PRO also meaning to be FUN to play with? to be a GOOD opponent? to know when to attack and when not to attack? (when decons acure or someone just wrecks his own base) not just someone who plays the game to WIN but who plays the game for FUN!
since its a GAME PPL.. A GAME.. try to win in your RL or sumtin..
if 1 or 2 players in a server just play to win... its mostly more boring, frustrative and annoying then a match where ur the noob with 0 kills vs a team with all 50+ kills
i dont rlly care if i win or lose, yea duh i try to win.. but not in a 'noob' way (camping to s3) yea i camp.. ocasionally.. but only to get credits to run out or when 1 or 2 stages behind.. but duh, that doesnt ruin the game for the rest
this is no flaming or w/e, more or less a big question to those ppl that call themselves pro by ruining other ppl's gameplay
my experience is that there mostly: PL, BR, CZ and ocassionally FR -.-
while i dont have this (sumtimes perhaps) with GER, NL, UK, US, AUS, ITA players, ah well could be social nation problems or sumting.. ah well
PS: does anyone who uses NOOB multiple times a day know where it comes from? what its origin is and what it was used for? WITHOUT LOOKING IT UP? doubt it that most know that

Reminds me of a game I played where a guy joined, got his team to tied with the aliens and started acting cocky. After the aliens got deconned, he said he'd help us out by not attacking (yet he was standing by the last egg with a luci killing anything that spawned :roll: ). We won anyway.

bleh i mostly just leave the server and go for another... i barely ever see any reasonable ppl, damn wannabe PRO players trying to act cool (even if u pwned 3 of them together at s2 as dretch but lose due to feeding team :x)

I was checking out the site and i ran upon this, yet i havent played Tremulous, but i surely believe to play it often soon.
i would just like to say everyone is a newb at one point and 'pro's should incourage the growth of them to insure the continuation of the game, and also to gain some more competition. And secondly, camping is not even close to being 'n00bish'.. it is a strategy, same as turtling.. here is a good explanation of "newb/n00b"

Unfortunately I see that kind of stuff semi-often. It is most annoying. Especially when aliens are camping humans and whine about camping (but if someone manages to sneak out and kill their eggs it's awesome.).

That reminds me of a game i was in where it was 3 humans vs 2 aliens, one alien quit and even after pointing out a few times that it was 1 v 3 the humans still kept attacking. Naturaly I quit, since it's no fun to be losing in a 1 v 3.
It also reminds me of another game I was in, the teams were pretty evenly balanced, but then someone came in and deconed the human reactor. I quickly typed a message asking the aliens to not attack till we could build the reactor again, since it cot deconed, the alien team actualy did wait for us to get it back up again. So there are still people out there with good sportsmanship.

If you have problems wíth deconners, ask the server owner to add designated builders. If you still get deconned, ask for map restart immediately. If you just screw up a base move, you deserve to lose.
And BTW, I strongly prefer quick loss to an hour-long pointless siege.

Once I moved and rebuilt the reactor before getting banned for deconning.
Ban was removed after some players appealed in my case.

@vector_matt: yea i know there are still good and fun players around, thats why i keep playing =) but that are like 10% of total players x(

yah i know the difference between noob and newb,
newb = new, noob is just an idiot
but any idea where NOOB came from? NUUB? NUB? Non Usefull Body?
if im in an empty server and see my oposing team are newbs i mostly screw around a bit ;p when base is more or less destroyed give them time to try to build a good new one ;p

Newbie was shortened into Newb
Newb branched off into Noob, Nub, n00b et al.

Actually both come from newbie. More interesting i think is pwnd. comes from owned, but no idea where that p came from. Interesting that in some games the pwnd became the pony.

sumone wanted to write owned, but typo'd and ppl thought OMG WHAT A COOL ACRONYM! NOW I WILL SPAM THOUSANDS OF SERVERS WITH IT FOR NO PARTICULAIR REASON.. thats why its commenly used nowadays
but ppl think its cool to use.. let them
noob came from nub (in US military used as Non Usefull Body) gamers just adopted it and it changed from nub to noob, noob doesnt come from newbie
btw, whats wrong with trying to vote ppl with 999 ping?
999 ping means he disconnected, so why vote no? he only lags the game untill the server ping time ends... i rlly dont get it.. why not vote em out so there is less lag? tremulous is laggy ennough from itself.. let alone players that timed out lag allot more :x

people with 999 ping cause absolutely no lag for others around them. but you're a such a nice person for kicking the poor guy who made the mistake of changing his video settings while he wasn't spawned so he could deal with the extra load caused by your luci spam.

i was aliens? i doubt a dretch has the option to buy a luci let alone spam with it, and besides, as i said, he did got a ping timeout =)
and yes he was probably lagging me, since i didnt notice my computer doing anything (only had mIRC, Winamp, MSN, ZA running besides trem, the usual stuff) and i kept lagging... and no i dont have a crappy connex, got 20mbit

And no, he can not lag you. This isn't bittorrent. This isn't peer to peer connection. Everyone is connected to the server. The server gives everyone the data. If one's not recieving what does it do? It just doesn't recieve the data. Lower your settings if you keep lagging. Noone said you had a crappy connection, just a crappy computer. ;P
And 20 mbit? wow, nice connection. ;P
You can lower your settings or remove some background programs. For instance, a virus scan running at the same time would NOT be a thing to do if you do not wish to run a game with low FPS.
