Post by: Studlut on January 16, 2007, 07:43:54 pm
ok so I needed to install tremulous

so I go in the games directory and try to delete it.

it says access denied or something like that...

so I chmod 777 the directory.  And it still says access denied :/

I decide to reboot and it says theres been some error in /dev/hda6

Ugh this is bullshit why does linux hate me?

chmodding the /usr/local/games/tremulous directory is BAD. It needs to write to your home directory(this is a security feature of linux).

if you can become root (if you could chmod the directory then I supose you can) then login as root and delete the folder then.

the easiest way is to delete the directory from some file manager (konqueror in KDE or somethin' else on some other desktop env.) - you can delete it recursively then. Of course the file manager must be run as root.

or in console use the midnight commander.

But the most secure way is to uninstall the game (but don't know how to do this :P )
