Title: Getting Info for -1 Servers
Post by: Thansal on January 19, 2007, 01:09:21 am
Hi, this is my second time tryign to play Trem (a recent computer upgrade from a sub par system has be confident I can run it now).

My problem is that when ever I try and get a server list (Yes I set it to internet) I get the message "Getting Info for -1 Servers", and nothing happens (jsut stays there and flashes).

I have let it run for a decent amount of time, and still no luck.

I am running under Win2K, and I am behind a router (Linksys: BEFW11S4).

I have seen no refference to needing to open up ports to connect to the server browser (and I am not surprised about this), however if there are any could some one post em up (and wth they are being used for).

I have poked around on the forums and have found one other case of this, but no answer that helps me out (I do NOT have a software firewall running).

Thank you for any help.

As a random note, could some one post up a few IPs for servers that I could test out?

I tried 2 server finding utils I saw linked to in some threads and they just left me with a blank page.

I think there's an issue with the master server at the moment.  I've gotten a few servers populated to my server-browser, but it took a really really long time (like 5+ minutes.)

Lots of people are having the same problem, there's a few threads just on this page about it

hmm, I only saw one with the error.

but then again I am not to keen on dredging through threads that have incredibly descriptive titles like "I have a problem" and "it doesn't work"...

ah well.

guess I will play wait and see.

thnaks for the info.

If you'd like to manually connect, our server (the Potato Patch) is:

tremulous.patshead.com:30720

But with the Master Server problems, its been a bit empty this evening.

The master server was down for a short while. Something with a server spamming requests to it that had to be banned.

Since this downtime, I have not been able to get a new list again, all I get is this '-1 servers' msg.  I redownloaded Trem , extracted it to a different folder, and I am still having the same issue.  I tried it from a different location, where it works just fine.

I am able to use the 'get new list' function when I am looking at 'my favorites', which makes this issue even more confusing.  I am hoping someone can help me here.  Thanks!

You computer is unable to contact the master server.
Do you have a firewall?
the master server is at master.tremulous.net, try pinging it.

Thanks for the quick response David!  Now that I know the address of the master server, I was able to find out what the cause was.  Appearantly Peer Guardian 2 has that IP address on the block list.  I forgot I installed it the same day people reported problems here, and I sure didn't think of a Tremulous master server being blacklisted.  Thanks again!

I've also had this same exact problem. I'm guessing what happens, is that trem is not connecting clearly to your router. So repair your wireless network connection, and it might work. Or at least it works for me.
