Title: random faces
Post by: vcxzet on January 24, 2007, 12:03:27 pm
Code: [Select]
<p0m_> Random faces on humies in trem would be uber.
<Ingar> write a program to import charcters from The Sims 2
<vcxzet> it is easy You can make it use blah_[no of skin].skin rather than blah.skin
<vcxzet> but this needs a skinselection menu and skins should be passed to the server and retrieved by client
<vcxzet> easier one is choosing skins according to the client no
<vcxzet> or something else that does not change during the game
<vcxzet> hmmm wait there is something better for example playername=vcxzet^5  gets the skin no:5

any other ideas?

it will need a client side download (for the textures) so will have to be a mod.

I remember reading that there is a new model for the human marine prepared for the next version. I don't know if it is meant to replace sarge or be an additional "face". Perhaps model-preference selection is on the official todo list (metaphorically ... Timbo does not keep a real one AFAIK)?

I would like this a lot, and have tried some model changing, but is has not worked for me. I do not think the Sims 2 would be able to really help. The references for the body for animations are different, unless you feel like making your own animations. The best bet is to make a marine body with various heads. If my maya autodesk ever worked I would work on this, and other projects, avidly.

If anyone has had any success in changing the human model without altering the base file, please let us know. It has been driving me crazy enough to go back to writing java programs because I know they will work. The model command does not work and from what I can tell, everything is based on classes.
