Hooray, after a fair amount of confusion, it turns out we won the player's choice standalone game of the year! As well as honorable mentions in the genre category action and the editor's choice standalone game of the year. And they gave us some nice pictures to use too... so I thought I'd put them here:
(http://tremulous.net/media/files/MOTY_Goldsm.png) 1st Place: Player's Choice Standalone Game of the Year
(http://tremulous.net/media/files/MOTY_Genresm.png) Honorable Mention: Genre Award: Action
(http://tremulous.net/media/files/MOTY_Editorssm.png) Honorable Mention: Editor's Choice Standalone Game of the Year
I think I made some promises involving things that might happen if we happened to win... but hopefully everyone forgot about that! HAHaha...
I think it was a new map, a new human player model, and animated 1st person weapons, and a full forced prodding of Timbo about 1.2. Funny thing is that with all the ruckus involving the contest, the team has been actually working fairly hard on all these things, as you may have noticed!

Congrats :D
Cant seem to find any players choice standalone award tho :P
I have never played Darsana, but it doesnt look like more than half a dozen people ever have, so why it seems a little unfair that it managed to beat tremulous.
-
:D :D :D :D :D
-
Link?
-
I'm not sure if he's kidding or not. But may be the awful site navigation too. I just don't find it at all. All I find is Darsana being the winner in editor's choice.
-
try to browse that site in Lynx.
guess why i asked for a link
-
Great :)
Congratulations!

Gratz guys.
Dear god that site needs a proper designer, the link for the Editor's choice stuff is at the very bottom of the last page, not even mentioned on the homepage or site search. No sign of the proper Standalone page.
-
I hereby want to congratulate TremDev with their victory, after all these years of people smirking in their general direction.
-
I still cant find player's choice of standalone game
-
They didn't "officially" announce it.
http://forum.moddb.com/thread/19832/#417521
It IS quite confusing and I wish they would have been clearer. Listing editors choice standalone, but not players choice standalone is bound to create confusion.
I chalk it up to growing pains for moddb. Sh*t happens, what can you do.
Congrats to the developers though, GREAT JOB!
-
Congrats :D

Yep.
I tried it once, so that means there are at most 11 other players left.
It just seems like a totally bizarre choice, and it runs poorly too. Thanks Darkplaces!
If anyone somehow manages to find another player, tell us how gameplay is, will you?
-
Congrats! And good job to everybody who voted :D
This thread confused me for a bit until I found the link to the forums explaining that Tremulous did win, they just messed up the template for announcing the winners. Tremulous did, in fact, win players choice for stanealone MOTY.
So, who gets the Alienware compy?
-
Thanks for the link, this just proves that the players know better then the modDB editors. I wanted to beat the editors silly after they selected an incomplete game like Darsana as the Standalone game of the year. http://features.moddb.com/288/mods-of-2006-editors-choice/?fpage=3

...
... I got carried away....
The downside is that now we won, we're gonna get a noob-overflow :(
*Edited thw woohoo! so that the exclamationmarks don't flow over the screen :> *
-
So... is Trem getting the 1000$ and Warsow the 500$?
Correct. We also get an Alienware computer.
So, who gets the Alienware compy?
We still need to discuss it further, but for the most part me. I'll be taking it apart and sending some pieces to other devs, and moving the entire thing into my nice pretty case. I'm not particularly fond of the alienware cases. >.>
The downside is that now we won, we're gonna get a noob-overflow :(
What does that mean? t.t
-
So... is Trem getting the 1000$ and Warsow the 500$?
There was a cash prize?
-
The downside is that now we won, we're gonna get a noob-overflow :(
Don't worry Glunnator, we'll still think of you as the ultimate noob! :P :D
-
I am confused which award did tremulous win (Wanna be correct before I post it on my blog thats all) I cant seem to see anything on the links that were pasted above or on the Moddb site either.
Would someone beable to paste the correct links here please.
-
The awards listed above were won by tremulous (i.e. in the first post of the thread)
The moddb guys are a bit useless and didnt change the awards template for the webpage from the previous years when the standalone mod of the year award didnt exist, and so it was omitted from the award post. However they have confirmed tremulous won it in response to an open letter of complain posted by overflow.
-
congatulations. :) :) 8) 8)  :D
-
I'm not particularly fond of the alienware cases.
Gratz on the win btw, sry for such a late post >_>
so you selling the case?
-
And hey, trem seems to be the only game among the winners that you can play on linux! The community here is so nice because of all the linux geeks i think, inlcuding me :P .. so thats a "must be the winner" plus.
thanks for all the great work :))

Maybe it would be better to ask if you still have the case first. I have PayPal BTW...

It will be a while before we get the prizes... But if none of the other devs wan the case (I'm pretty sure they don't) I wouldn't mind selling it here on the forums.
-
Yay, Forum Auction.
I saw a bunch of the models and stuff for Trem 1.2 good start with the new human :P
-
I saw a bunch of the models and stuff for Trem 1.2
Where?
-
Well I would like to show everyone... but......... that would involve me going into my bookmarks, and pressing two buttons once highlighting the URL [CTRL + C] than pressing two more buttons to place the link here [CTRL + V] It would have been quicker than doing this wouldn't it?
Ok fine, I'll get a link, but only because im being nice XD. wait maybe the trem dev's dont want the info disclosed... Ok but if they ban my forum account, your goes to....
http://bobbin.vilkacis.net/tremulous/
It's an entire archive of files :P Also I found the map file editable in GTKRadiant of Tremor :o
-
I thought he closed that up...
-

Thanks. There's some cool stuff there. It alos looks like the bsuit hitbox won't be an issue, as there won't be a bsuit. (see the htrooper pics.)

(kickass)
-
Awesome, that's really great that they gave you that, I'm proud of you. =D
For free that's a great deal, lol, otherwise Alienware tends to be you paying lots for the name, not the hardware. You can build a box close to that one for $2k without all the custom Alienware stuff and with substitutes in their place.
Here's my box:
http://neonpulse.net/2006/04/02/new-computer/
The only changes are that I got an ergonomics keyboard, BenQ FP93G X 19" LCD, 160GB SATA drive, and I O.C. my AMD Athlon X2 4200+ to 2.7GHz.
In all I've put less than 2k in it for sure, maybe around $1,500.
Just make sure that you know how to fix it yourself. XD
...but then...you don't get the sweet Alienware case, lol.
-
Heck, it's free...
I want the mousepad
Anyway, a huge congrats on winning... i'm playing a lot of TC:E right now, but i'll be back when the dev speed starts moving fast :D
