Gentoo here :)
...
This has something to do with Tremulous?
A moderator needs to move this to off-topic.
Yes. This is off-topic.
Meh. Ill use it anyway.
I use OSX.
i use windows, i will use linux once it actaully supports hardware.

So, that explains why I got slightly more FPS than you with equivalent hardware :D
Windows XP.
I'm gonna change OS this year. I'm probably going to start using either Debian or Ubuntu. Havnt decided which (yet).
Linux is for smelly hippies.
Windows is for inbred.
MacOS is for homosexuals
and OS/2 Warp is for You.

CP/M FTW!
Debian GNU/Linux
Gentoo!!!! everything else that i have is just for emergency-only purpose

Yap, I use Linux... Just like OS-X, Windows, OS/2 and even DOS.
Use the tool that is best suited for the work at hand.
I dualboot (for wireless Internet on my Toshiba P100 SD8 to work) with :dretch: Windows MCE 2005 and :tyrant: Ubuntu 6.10 (XGL/Compiz). I have Tremulous installed in both.
P.S. If you have a Toshiba P100 SD8 with Ubuntu 6.10 and have wireless working, suggestions would be really appreciated. All my attempts have failed and this laptop was not Linux friendly to configure. I have tried the Synaptic repository stuff for Toshibas.
edit: Ubuntu 7.04 fixed this.
I've been doing linux for 10+ years now and I've tried about
every mainstream distro you can think of.
These days I run Linux from Scratch,
a lot of work but definitely worth the effort
does tremulous run any faster under linux than windows?
I've been trying to get away from windows to my favorite OS (http://os4.hyperion-entertainment.biz/).
The only thing stopping me is that there isn't a port of trem for it...
Ubuntu FTW!

There is Q3 for Amiga OS (
http://amigaworld.net/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=22014&forum=9&5 ), so maby it isn't so hard to port trem also?
Try asking on
http://amigaworld.net, maby they will know sth. about it.
I use Plan 9, FreeBSD, Win2K, Ubuntu, Debian, ReactOS, and Mac OSX.
Not all daily, but I usually touch at least three different OSes or distros of them in a day.
Plan 9 from Outerspace starring Bella Lagosi
I just switched to ubuntu about 2 months ago.
Quote from: garethi use windows, I will use linux once it actaully supports hardware.
I use XUbuntu, and linux has better hardware support than windows, bar maybe wireless and ATI.
most stuff just works, and it doesn't have to install stuff every time a USB stick is plugged in, or for mice.
I see no reason to ever use windows again.
Im moving to Gentoo on saturday :)
im moving to the north pole sunday

ok what i actually should have said is that i will be more likely to use linux when hardware vendors support it.
imo linux users (some) fixation with open source is whats holding it back from the mainstream, i really dont want everything to be open source, i just want it to work in a simple way, and preferably without compiling it first :]
PS. I use linux all the time at where other people set it up and maintain it.
I am a Archlinux user, because its lightweigth, and pacman absolutyl rocks everything.
Yup, I'm on Ubuntu.
Game seems to work fine for me :P
http://aros.sourceforge.net/
windows for me. i am used to it.
Yep, Linux rocks. Anyone try Vista yet? It sucks, and most Windows users will agree with that fact.
Ubuntu and Debian.
Gentoo and Kubuntu
On my main comp I have OpenBSD and windows xp (which I only use for my fpga tools, yes running windows actually beats using alien on an rpm) and on an older laptop I am running Syllable, Plan 9, ReactOS, PCBSD, can boot into the Haiku kernel, and I'm planning on sticking OpenDarwin and MenuetOS on there soon; gotta love those extended partitions.
debian, arch
*prepares to get flamed*
I use windows vista 32 bit.
You bastard, you are funding terrorism!!!
OMFG! YOU SICK! Hitler didn't take up Nazism until he'd used Vista!
OS X 10.4
And soon, OS X 10.5
windows xp is the best os by far.
Really? 'Cause I was under the impression that XP was just a few extentions to DOS which was bought as a crappy (and most likely illegal, not sure on the law at the time) clone of C/PM, which was by standards at the time horrible, UNIX blew it out of the water.
Don't know where I got that notion.
Anyways BeOS was BY FAR the best operating system ever made, to bad palm had to come in and destroy it, I hope they burn for doing that (anybody up for a little arson at the palm headquarters?).
no windows xp is better
Because?
i use it
*shoots n00b*
Now I am God!
Amen.
windows xp owns you all.
how does shooting me make you God?
gareth ftw.
I use Windows XP, but I also have a Mac and a Linux
And boy, would my life be easier. I'm in XP now, but I use TortoiseSVN, Apache, Tremulous, Nexuiz, Firefox, OpenOffice, the GIMP, Blender, Evolution, Azereus, Inkscape, Audacity, Ethereal.... (on and on and on)
Basically, when I migrate, the only thing that'll change will be the kernel, GUI, media player, and ease of use ;) FEBE will take care of my 20 FF extensions.
I hate not having a regular functioning Linux bash. Well, I have a triple boot system, but none recognize my ATI card but Windows... And I want Ubuntu because Envy will automatically recognize the card.
When it comes to problems, I don't know where Microsoft ends and Cox begins. Apache, Trem server, and such can't escape, even though I put a hole in my router, and Windows firewall has them approved, etc. ethana2@gmail.com- help would be nice, I guess. Mainly with Windows IP and ports stuff, though.
Bill Gates!!!! **woot**
Windows XP Illegal edition :D
Windows is the BEST!!
Microsoft is getting sad, ripping everything off from OsX and Linux...
Mind you, Linux is also vaguely mac-like...
erm...
Anyway, I use Mac Os X

Quote from: GlunnatorMind you, Linux is also vaguely mac-like...
it's the other way - Mac and GNU/Linux are UNIX-like :P
I use Windows XP but am interested in using aLinux or SLED. (maybe i'll use soon)
I am using XP and it is superior to linux
Li..Lin..Li...Linu? Linux? Whew. That's a tongue twister right there. Not only do I use linux, I abuse it. A good OS is measured by how often you can break it until it's fixed, instead of it breaking on you when it's fixed.

I love it! Very nice. Those of you who swear by Winblows should be taken out back and shot. Ubuntu rox... *Nix FTW.
im gonna "fight" with LFS soon (1 week). Hope to get it working :P.

Ooh, you KINKY little thing!
I dual boot Windows XP, and Ubuntu 7.04. I have a problem with Ubuntu though, it will never start up, and is just wasting harddrive space. Says I have to mount a drive or something.
My laptop runs windows 95, doesnt even have a CD drive :) thats when you use to get your OS on like 20 floppies, but anyways.
Anyone know how to mount a hard drive in Ubuntu? I would love to ditch XP and have been trying to for about 3 months now.
i use Winodws XP for my old PC and for my new PC Vista :P it's a bit buggy atm.
Quote from: n00b pl0xi use it
I also do, which would mean windows sux.
So noone knows how to mount a harddrive in Ubuntu?

I use GNU/Linux because I am a smelly cheapass hippie that is too much of a scrooge to pay for a proper operation system. I also ignore all the problems my GNU/Linux distribution has, because it's not Windows and therefore it's better, even if it doesn't work.

man mount
hey i use windows coz windows is so Ha><or but linux still beats mac

Ever heard of Windows XP pirated Edition? I own a copy. Another guy I talked to said the same thing lava amount "man mount" without the quotes, but nothing happened, it said it couldnt find man. I do how ever get these errors when I boot:
Boot Normally:
BusbyBox 1,1,3 [debian 1:1,1,3 - 3UBUNTU3] built in shell (ash) Enter 'help' for a list of builtin commands.
Sh: Can't access tty; job control turned off
(initramfs)
Boot in recovery mode:
SCSI device sda: writecache: enabled, readcache: enabled, doesn't support DPO or FUA

It would appear something doesn't work in my computer lol.
so confusing, something is going worng thats for sure
The forums at www.linuxquestions.org might help.
Do other operating systems (other linux distros, windows, etc) install and work correcly?
linuxquestion.org I will go check that out right now. Yea WindowsXP installed correctly, I had windows 2000 on here just for the hell of it once. No errors happen during install at all. I have never used another linux distro, I heard ubuntu was a good one for starters so I kinda was gonna start with that.
What? Your Linux distro comes without manpages? If you just open a term and enter 'man mount' without the ' ', it should just open the manpages for the 'mount' command. If not, get a proper distrubution or fix your installation.
I am using nthe live CD now, found a site through the link you sent me Taiyo.uk , found another problem same thing, one guys mobo just plainout doesnt support it, and someone's site said to add something to a file, I am rebooting now, see if that works, if not maybe ill get another distro like you recommend LavaCroft
I havent tried 'man mount' in my terminal yet, I only tried that in the boot up "dos like" setting...
Maybe I didnt mention before, im using Ubuntu 7.04
