Ok, one of my friends lives with her mum. She is 14. Her Mother forces her to visit her father every weekend. He abuses her physically but she refuses to tell anyone about it.
This is my question: In the state of Connecticut, can kids over the age of 14 be forced to visit one parent or the other? Or do they have the right to chose? Thanks

wow. this was the strangest place to post this topic.
honestly, i don't know. however, i think the court chooses who the child has to go to. when she turn 18, she can choose. if she can prove the physical abuse though, take him to court.

Dude! Get in touch with CANH right this instant! If you don't want to call from home, use a pay phone it's toll free.

No child should have to endure physical abuse and I'm pretty sure no matter where you live the authorities will agree. TELL SOMEONE(for example her mother, a teacher, another relative or call some help hotline). Her father is breaking the law not her!

He abuses her physically but she refuses to tell anyone about it.
She told you, so you've got to help get her to tell her mother, the police, etc.

Dude, if she doesn't want to, she doesn't have to.
Visitation rights do NOT include the right to physically abuse the child.
