I know the mac version was scripted to auto make them aVI if im not mistaken anyway to make the windows one do that? or any other format?

if you want you fps to drop into the negatives you can always use
/video VideoName: Records a video in .AVI.

/stopvideo: Stop the /video command.

This question actually came up in my clan forums. I haven't tested this but what I was told to do was make your demo dm_69 as usual. Then go back and play your demo and use the /video command to make an avi of that demo.
