Hi, instead of the usual negative posting that's going on on these forums, why not explain to the rest of us what you like best about Tremulous, instead of moaning about what you dont like. I'll start off by saying that what I like most about Tremulous is the freedom you have to solve any given situation. The absense of a rock-paper-scissor balance is what makes Tremulous stand out from the rest.
Now, please tell us what you like best about Tremulous.

I really like how fast paced it is and the aliens vs humans theme.
EDIT And seeing as lava thinks it's not being said enough i will say what i thought was a given. TREM KICKS ASS!!!! W000000T!!!!! GOGOGOGO DEVS!!!!! YOU ARE TEH WIN! Thanks for taking away 6 months of my life on this very addictive game 8)

What I like about tremulous is that it isn't the standard FPS that I became so bored with. Differing capabilities integrated with the RTS of building and defending a base make the strategy very fluid. It is impossible to outline a single strategy that constantly works, as is the case with single player games, and an opponents weakness on one team probably won't exist when they play the other side so you can't count on finding someones "tell" that easily. Not to mention that its fast.
Short answer though, wallwalking and pouncing! :D

i like the fact that it's really balanced, so skill is what determens the winner, not whoever gets the nuke/carrier/supervirus reaserched first, and the fact that it's still two factions, even though that makes it harder to balance. and the devs aren't nerds and actually listen to suggestions
-
One of my favorite things about Tremulous is that it's a very solid FPS with a relatively closely-knitted community. It's an open source mod of Quake 3, and yet it's still a better thought out and executed game than almost all retail multiplayer FPS games that are released, barring graphics that we're used to seeing in Q3 engine games. We get to play one of the most intelligent and fun FPS games currently in existence, for free, and with a great community behind it. Honestly, Tremulous is a godsend.

Honestly, Tremulous is a godsend.
I second that.
I just love the variety of options I can have.
-
Granger sounds.
-
2 words....
mass driver
<3
-
Assasiantion as basilisk. I love the exitement to sneak up on someone and see them trying to get off my rock hard grip.
But I hate the fact that assasination fun ends on human s2 (due radar). When that happens I assault humans for daily meal using lot of walls as my support although they atempt to get on large open areas to avoid me :/

RTS FPS combination and fast gameplay
-
1. Fast paced game play. (I was playing savage and I nearly lost my mind it was so boring)
2. Two VERY different sides yet still really balanced. (If you don't know how hard it is two do that it's INCREDIBLY hard)
3. Two words: Alien Building!
4. Tyrant.
-
The massive variety caused by the two totally different teams, and the strategy element.
When team play works as its meant to, its amesing.
-
Alien defense building, alien ambushes and human strike teams sweeping maps clean.
-
Advanced Dragoon. No sweeter feeling than pouncing and sniping. Its like a ninja alien.
-
Lucy Jumping. Nothing is better than jumping your way to annhilate three eggs and an OM, crippling the alien team in one attack. Or meeting two Tyrants in a hall and lucy jumping your way backwards back into your base. It's pure cheese :)
-
i like the fact that the game doesnt just depend on how good your aim is. the fact that movement is very important keeps my attention.
-
Trappers.
...and the comm window chatter which follows from it.
-
The fact that I waste money on other games, when I play this free game more than anything purchased.
No, wait... that's not a good thing.
Let me try again..
The fact that it's so darn addictive that I'm playing it when I should be studying/working/aware of the real world.
...
Damn it! >.<
-
I love how its free, i play this game far more than any other $50 games i bought at the store.
I love the mass driver, and the marauder.
More than that I love owning MD noobs with a dretch. ;p
I also like how the teams are almost opposite. Its makes players change up their playing style.
Its open source.
Each alien/weapon is potentially a death machine, depending on who's using it.
I also love how players can build their own bases, it adds a new type of [ i cant think of the word :'( ] to the game.
My favorite thing is that there are no hacks released for it yet, i hate playing in 'hackfest' games like CS:S. (this is when people shout hypocrite >;p )
I also love my nifty little custom HUDs. (mybe I'll post a SS some time) ;p

This thread makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.

1. I used to play a lot of the original Alien vs Predator and Tremulous has the same wallwalking and minigun (chaingun now) fun I loved. There also isn't the poor balance that AvP suffered from (like the one-hit-kill throwing disks).
2. Fast paced team game with actual teamwork and required strategy involved. The teams aren't just which pool of points you belong too.
3. Its something free which is more pleasing than a chunk of what the commercial industry churns out for cash.
4. I used to rebuild and rebuild in games like Starcraft amd Age of Mythology trying different things out. Building for aliens is just as enjoyable for me.
-
I like how the dev for this game didn't die like other games. The mods created are small and I don't have to go downloading anything everytime I join a different server.
-
Granger sounds.
  LOVE!
-
Tyrant on Granger.
-
Oh, and grangers. Fuck, do I ever love grangers.
Someone make me a granger plushie, and I'll love you forever.
-

Dude, seriously. I am having trouble choosing between a cat or a Granger as favorite pet. If a Granger can also return small stuff I throw away, just like my cat does, I'm sold. Maybe I should make her a green sweater...

1.
Making tyrants grunt and goons moo. Those are the most popular handphone ringtones in my school now.
2.
Building in the game. I like how you can screw around with your teammates by putting eggs all over the damn place.
3.
The rifle. Possibly the best video game weapon ever - I'm surprised it wasn't in the video on YouTube.
4.
Committing suicide on Transit. An awesome way to deny kills.

1. WTF?
2. Ban heading your way
3. Its a gun.
4. Play the game as its meant to be played, or fuck off.
The best bit about tremulous is being able to ban people like you.
-
Well, make that 5. then:
Intentionally pissing off people like you and taking screenshots of your reaction. Fodder for my thesis, what the hell. :)
I hope you aren't an admin.
-
Go get 'em rott! This is supposed to be a happy thread David. I put the trains back on track...
I like it when the whole human team forms a death ring, and two guys in the pit take turns with painsaws on eachother.
-
I still remember the first time I went onto Tremulous
It was a really active game, i thought the tyrants were amazing, i was scared of them as an alien even, i thought, holy shit, how? its just TOO big.
Best time of my life
(well not really, there was a time when i made a fully working harmonica with paper, but when i went outside to lure the rats to me, it rained and bye bye harmonica.)
-
Ah, Tremulous, how do I love thee?
I love thee for thy swift and fluid netplay.
I love thee across multiple platforms.
I love thee for thy Quakiness, and I love running backwards through thy hallowed hallways, jumping and strafing and hoping the rifle won't reload when the tyrant slashes.
I love thee for thy rotflmao spirit, for the sheer joy of thy carnage, for thy old skool look and feel, and for thy noisy, bloody, wild confusion.
I love thee for thy darkened hallways, for systems of pipes that actually go somewhere, and mostly for thy sheer, free, fun, inventive exuberance.
Hey Tremmie. Here's my FPS heart. Don't break it.
-
I like that its got depth.
-
The thrill!
-
I like tremulous because it is different: the RTS elements, the teamplay, the totally different teams. It gives the game a feeling I haven't seen in a while. Each match is like a game of chess, texas chainsaw massacre-style.
Tremulous got me mapping again :D
-
Ok. Here are my two cents.
There are a lot of things i like about Tremulous.
First of all I like the license model Tremulous is released under :)
Then there is this awesome gameplay.
Its just amazing.
All those nice particle effects!
And the developers' hard work to fix bugs and make the game better.
Tremulous is highly addictive and a lot better than most of currect commercial games.
There is so much love for detail in it.
And it is well-balanced.
Just want to thank the developers for their hours/weeks/months/years they spent in creating this high quality software.
Keep up the good work!
-
Hmm... I just hope it doesn't get forbidden, especially in Germany, not because of the violence but because of the addictive, drug-like effects. Maybe the developers should bring out a special German version with 1.2.0 that pops up a message every couple of minutes:
"Attention: you may only play Tremulous if you are sure it is having no addictive effects on you. Such effects include... yadda yadda yadda. Please press Quit if any of this applies to you. Otherwise, you may enter your passport ID below and press Continue. This is just a precaution."
-
It really is amazing how addictive it is, I play almost everyday now, I feel bored when I'm not playing. My favorite thing about it is that is free. Yup, just free.
-
its so addictive u just cant live without it
-
Best thing about tremulous is that I play it
-
Granger sounds.
Naa, basi sounds. :basilisk: Ha ha ha, snort!
Now if they could just change the adv basi gas sound to sound like, well, gas.
-
i like trem cause i am kinda addicted to it and it is also free
-
having 9 rounds left in a luci and making it scream while running in the human base and sitting on the medi pad....solves the whole medi hogging issue.
-
I love the lack of public hacks on tremulous. Google cs hacks as my point.
When you play tremulous you know if someones kicking your ass there is a reason behind it. Which you can learn.
New things iv learned to love.
Luci jumps
Jumping with shotgun against a goon s1 so he dont headchomp you
Md'ing noob dretchs and being called a hacker
Running inside your own fully charged luci shot, so when a rant comes out to eat you, You hit him with 2.
-

Heh. No comment. Oh wait, you said public.
-
I had to register just so I could post in this thread. X3
What do I love most about Tremulous? I love the whole freaking thing. I'm eternally impressed by the Devs for creating such a fun and balanced game, and for giving it to us for free!
But if I had to choose a favorite part of the game, I'd have to go with the dretch. 8) :dretch:
-
It's got a good learning curve. It takes maybe a few months to become a decent player, but it takes a very long time to become an extraordinary player.
-
The fact that it's a First Person Shooter, but not a mindless one: you need to think, strategize and plan ahead in order to win. Plus, you and your teammates need to work as a team...
Nothing beats a nice Advanced Dragoon - Tyrant combination on Tremor:
*Dragoon jumps in the Human base from the side, small entrance.
*Dragoon snipes
*Humans shoot at dragoon
*Dragoon leaves the human base through the small entrance
*Humans follow
*Tyrant kills humans following the Dragoon
Oh, and then there's the community and fooling around a bit with your teammates (in a positive way)...
-
I love how the two teams are soooo different
I love how each alien races are unique and different
-
I love how each alien races are unique and different
even though you never play as aliens
-

sometimes I do! It's just that I lost my skills with them!
-
i've yet to see you go aliens. go aliens more often and you won't lose your skills with them.
