Title: Can't see any servers.
Post by: St. Anger on March 05, 2007, 02:51:49 am
Just about 2 days ago my  serverlist kept acting up. I would refresh and get a new list and refresh again, I still couldn't see any servers. I tried re-installing and still no success. It's as if my internet isn't working it says:
"Getting info for -1 servers."

I run windows xp sp2.

Check your firewalls. Then if that doesn't work, unplug your router for 20seconds.

First of all, make sure you're not on the Local setting. After that, reset your connection, reset router, unplug and plug back in, etc.

Navigate to start menu -> run.. -> cmd -> type in: ping master.tremulous.net
If it says cant resolve host etc shit, your DNSes are prolly screwed, if it gets replies from the host you got something wrong with trem and/or firewall(s).

Normal return of ping master.tremulous.net (Yea finnish but as long as it says "Reply from host 72.36.226.187:.." or similar it's ok)
Code: [Select]
F:\>ping master.tremulous.net

Ping-isäntä master.tremulous.net [72.36.226.187], 32 tavun paketti:

Vastaus isännältä 72.36.226.187: tavuja=32 aika=179 ms TTL=44
Vastaus isännältä 72.36.226.187: tavuja=32 aika=164 ms TTL=45
Vastaus isännältä 72.36.226.187: tavuja=32 aika=174 ms TTL=44
Vastaus isännältä 72.36.226.187: tavuja=32 aika=165 ms TTL=45

Ping-tilastot 72.36.226.187:
    Paketit: Lähetetty = 4, Vastaanotettu = 4, Kadonnut = 0 (0% hävikki),
Arvioitu kiertoaika millisekunteina:
    Pienin = 164 ms, Suurin = 179 ms, Keskiarvo = 170 ms

Check those View Empty: Yes, View Full: Yes buttons, and check the Source ( should be Internet ).

Also try the external browser. http://tremulous.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=3795&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=

If that works then it's your Tremulous acting up. Deleting the autogen.cfg in your <user> folder should work.

There is a file called servercache.dat in -i think- your Tremulous root, try removing it and then refreshing the serverlist.

Hi I also have a problem with getting the server list, but thats when I enable DMZ.
With out the firewall up I can play it, but with severe lag. So I would like a little bit of insight from you guys, like do I have to open some ports if im in DMZ?
I would like to do it through demilitarized because I use that for other games.

Title: Tremulous servers failing
Post by: tanpantsman on March 23, 2007, 09:42:19 pm
I have peer guardian, and this blocks the host of the tremulous servers.  I have a couple custom lists, but I don't think it's listed under those.  Ok, I just checked, and layered technologies is listed under the normal black list.  Just go to allow forever, or one hour, or hatever you want.

Make sure that you didn't select Favorites or Local, but Internet on the top left of the server listing ^^. The Local is usually set by default (for an unknown reason).

Well I forwarded all ports... but it still wont work as long as the firewall is up on the barricade.

All quake based games act in this way... so its either a shitty game or a shitty router.
