well just everything in general, I don't really know where to start, and me having a mac doesn't really help because most server things are for PC.

In OSX you press the apple key and space to pull up the search thingy (I don't use this stuff in OS X so I'm not sure on it all), and then type terminal to find the terminal, open it, and follow the instructions here: http://tjw.org/tremulous/SETUP.txt
It talks about files in the latest client, so you'll need that.

You'll need to at least take a look at that before we can give you any more help.
By the way, I've run a server on a desktop machine, and my advice is if your upload speed is ≤256k, don't bother. It was like lag, only more so.

Lol, you realise how hypocritical that post was?

Maybe YOU should only post on a thread if YOU can contribute something, not just for the sake of telling someone else that their contribution wasn't valid.  :D

Your post, my post, and most likely the post following are devoid of any useful information, let's stop this.

Ok, so I checked out tjw's and got the basic server up and running now this is what I want.

I want to make it an internet server
I want to make myself operator
I want to be able to change map rotation

How do I do these things?

I have a mac so it'll be slightly difficult...

Ok I just need to know these two things now. I need to know what to type in server.cfg to set it dedicated to the internet and then I also need to know where to type the rcon password. After that, I'm good to go!

You can't set the server to be dedicated with the server.cfg, because that stuff is sorted out when the server starts up, then when it's done it runs server.cfg. You'll just have to keep using +set dedicated 2 in the terminal.
The rconpassword goes in server.cfg, like this:
set rconPassword "blah"
then you'll be able to connect to your server and do /rcon blah g_gravity 400 etc.
