Title: anticamp
Post by: optear on March 22, 2007, 03:52:44 pm
::g_antiCamp
it is bit pack [alien drain hp,alien drain evo,human drain hp,human drain evo]
so [1,1,1,0] = 8*1+4*1+2*1+1*0=14 so use "/g_anticamp 14"
::g_antiCampTimer
distance you need to take to avoid anticamp
"/g_antiCampTimer 60" means you need to move g_antiCampRadius in 60 seconds
::g_antiCampRadius
it is the radius for anticamp that you need to travel in g_antiCampTimer seconds

how it works:
for example [0,0,1,0] = human drain hp only so you use "/g_antiCamp 2"
and "/g_antiCampTimer 30" and "g_antiCampRadius 150"

then a player enters the game when he spawns as human, he needs to move 150 units in  30 seconds ELSE game sets campingflag 1 for him and he takes damage per second
the first point he moved, that is 150 units away from the spawn is the new base point. now he needs to move 150 units from this point. SO ON

in the worst scenario he patrols between 2 points that are 150 units away from eachother (of course if I did it right :P)

easy
he dies ... but I think 30 seconds is enough

That stuff is not thought out.
Try pulling that off on a server w/o donate or share.

Are you really prepared to force naked humans out against s3-alien?

Come back when you thought a little bit more about the basics.

maybe variable anticamptimer
but at least they need to move from the base a little (think you can set the radius)
I dont suggest a huge radius or small time

Wow, it is the worse answer I expected!

I also did some part of it in my teamdeathmatch mod but it is a little different (you need to stay away from spawns, if you are close for more than 30 seconds you take damage :: prevents alien spawn camping -- and you dont take damage from players near your own spawns :: prevents human spawn camping)

also in teamdeathmatch:
and in ATCS you just need to move to the side enterance with 400 units
then you can camp in the base for 30 seconds. it is a game you need to MOVE

do not tolerate campers :P. maybe I can add some time if he is around medi and not at full health and no medpack
(but one camps, takes damage, use medpack, he is around medi so gets extra 20 seconds and damage stops )
around medi && no medpack && medi accupied && no at full health

How about you first look into when camping is actually a viable strategy?

The programming might be sound, but it is based on a half assed idea, sorry.

good luck with your camping strategy but imho camping ruins gameplay and campers lose most of the time

Hah! And when the human dies from camping too long the death message is "<player> became bored of life." Too bad you'd be seeing that flood the screen.

This mod is retarded.

What about the goon outside your door? I'd rather camp then feed.

That is exactly what the OP does not understand.
If a human has no money and there is no share/donate on the server, his mod would force the humans to feed, instead of the saner way to let the aliens come to them.

I think a more correct way to put it would be:
"Humans will always camp until S3, unless someone codes S4 into the game"

In which case, they will camp to s4...

JK!

I would set it up to take into account the amount of creds/evos, your stage, and the enemy stage--s2H vs.s1A Humans should attack; s3A vs. s2H Humans should not go far unless there are enough to drive off/kill a four tyrant rush.

Maybe reduce turret accuracy and give maras/goons at high speed a motion blur? (random idea)

Just let turrets, hives, and trappers shoot teammates when they look away. People will think their base is haunted and camp less.
(And for some added fun, important structures should move slightly every so often.)

That'd be wicked. No joke. Someone mod it.

Bunch of aliens camping out side the human base.  Door opens and a armory comes floating out and down the hall.  Aliens scream and run away.  ITS ANTI CAMP!

I'd rather have humans that camp for over 2.5 minutes start seeing mirages. Imagine humans shooting aliens that don't exist ^^

god damn it I hated those monkey-screeching assholes keep jumping around and making my health go down to 1.
especially in Ravenholm in the night grass, you couldn't even see one on the ground and you suddenly hear the screaching and it jumps right at your face. I died 5 times in a row and I was scared too.
