Hey I just started playing trem. and love it but as the title states I have some questions or 1 questin as a matter of fact that would be appreciated if answered
who here has 512 ram and a 256 ddr video card and if so do you experience low lag, medium lag, or high lag
because im trying to figure out is my kind of lag normal
if someone could tell me how to record me playing I could post it on hear and show you what I mean first hand
thanks

Look man Im playing with 256 ram and an on board video card with 90-110 ping range most matches of course i get 0-10 on my server but its my server.
Lag spikes happen to everyone in game its not something your gonna fix as long as you only run the nessecary things when playing.
-
so does ures kinda laggy as well if you up close and personal in a batle?
-
it depends on the server sometimes yea i drop to like 10 fps when its a bigger sized fight but mostly i stay around 85-90 fps
-
so I should stop worring about lag and just enjoy the game?, sounds easy enough thanks for easing up my mind and also for being first person to meet on forums :)
-
yea this game is here for us to enjoy playing.
If you play a server close to your home youll have better ping also.

In the console:
/record demoname
/demo demoname to play back
or better still
/cl_autoRecordDemo 1
Demos are saved to ~/.tremulous/base/demos on Linux (iirc)
~/Library/Application Support/Tremulous/base/demos on Mac
C:\can't\remember\where on windows

You could have asked me as polish says, I Am a Ninja, God and an Oracle rolled into one.
and btw polish, the name is ShadowNinjaDudeMan.
Spell it wrong again and Ill have to smite you, or smote you, depends how I feel...

Go into options and change the net settings
I am willing to bet you havn't done so yet and so the lag is caused by the silly default setting which cant handle a firefight. Just change it so something sensible and all will become nice and smooth again...
-
it must be your settings like henners said
you can type them in console some servers might have limited these settings to lower values but you dont haveto worry about that
i use these and dont have any kind of lag in good servers but it might not work for all so if you have problems try playing whit them
/rate 20000 (dont put under 8000 or it might limit your fps )
/snaps 40
/cl_maxpackets 100 (i think you should try to match this one whit your average fps i get pretty stable fps but sometimes it dips in the 50-60)
every computer have different sweet spot so try to find best for your comp
