for humans
you can spawn using "/class classname" command
classnames are
grenade, mgturret, abuild, abuildupg, level0, level1, level1upg, level2, level2upg, level3, level3upg, level4
and any human weapon name

for aliens
you can spawn as higher class
for example "/class level3" for goon

also any player can wallwalk and all buildables can be built on walls and ceiling

Okay this is a serious question and I'm really curious wht this mod is about..

So we can spawn as a grenade and experience the heat of the battle directly as we're thrown into the alien's base ?

Play it.

You can spawn as any alien class, you can spawn with any human weapon (-grenade), mgturret (broken), tesla, lockblob (you shoot them), and hive.

Play it.

benmachines insanity is Ben's server. It'll host the latest version whenever it's up. Benmachine's Mod is just a random server running his mod and then compaining about "ABUSE" while trying to play a "normal" game.

I totally agree with you (QFT)! There are no limitations on joining a team so mostly all the players are joining the human side. Sometimes there are no aliens! And when you choose aliens, you'll get PWND :D

So this is a message to all the players there who complain about TKing:
This mod is for fun, and for who has the best skill to survive the machinegunners. Don't kick people who TK for fun because this mod is made for it!

my mod has a thread and I didn't even have to make it!

Anyway, the next release has been somewhat delayed by my accidental wiping of one of my hard drives (lol) but promised features include a fixed repeat rate on the mgturret, fixed mdriver kill messages, and spawning with battlesuits. Plus, if I can work it out, integration of a couple of UI icons durand was nice enough to make for me.

benmachine's insanity server
although because the server resources are pretty weak I only ever turn it on to distribute a new version or test something.

If anyone's interested, the reason I make this mod is purely to learn about the code of Tremulous by fiddling with things to see what they do. My intention is to eventually make, at least in parallel to this mod, a "serious" mod using some of the expertise I hope to develop in making this all work. One idea I have is looking into making proper wallturrets, buidable with jetpacks (since wallwalking humans are, in a serious context, impossible without serious and far-reaching modification of the game engine - look at http://v1.risujin.org/tremulous/#r4 for a somewhat more detailed explanation of why only cubic aliens can wallwalk), another is the long-awaited alien vs. alien game (although the fact that only grangers can hit a dretch without killing it is certainly going to make that an interesting proposition).

Yes I do remember you - iirc you kept asking me about setting up a server but I kept getting distracted and never finished - sorry about that.
The thing about making a benmachine's mod server is that, because it has been backported, tjw's tremded does not work with it. Whether backporting is necessary and what I need to do to make the qvm work with the usual tremded have not been my priorities, to be honest, and for my server I use a tremded I compiled myself (I can't compile for windows, so you're on your own there). My advice is as follows: either a) wait until I've finished my current projects and can get to work on making it easier to run or b) ask darkdodo how he did it.
In summary: the usual methods of server running won't work, so ask darkdodo or wait a few days.

you can also decon players if you have granger weapon(abuild) or construction kit (ckit)

Hi guys, just a brief request for some media I can't easily create myself:
Icons for hive and lockblob weapons
HUDs: alien hud needs to be modified to properly show clips and ammo, human hud needs a wallwalking display. I hacked a ammo count into the alien HUD, but it's ugly and has no clip count.
The only repayment I can offer is inclusion in !info credits

Now you can build lcannon turrets, flamer turrets, prifle turrets and grenade turrets. Also prifle has a secondary attack, which heals (like the love relic in relics mod). Also, a lot of bugs were fixed, although some of them are fixed on mac os x compilations only.

Indeed!
Still, compiling it on Linux gives out errors, and with TJW's tremded (which should be compatible) some bugs are still there (scoring system doesn't work, you just see 0's all the time etc).

Flamer turrets are still invisible though :(

If anyone can work that one out, they get a big hug. It's totally beyond me.

Also about the compilation errors: dodo, post me one, so the forum can work on it. There are people a lot cleverer than me around here.

In other news: I seem to have credited Survivor without actually including his icons :<
edit: no, I just checked, I've left the credit out too. They appear to have missed this release.

Sorry about that, I'll look into it later. Also sorry I couldn't reply to your mail, something was up with my sending from that address. Just to check - how would you like to be credited?

everything patched cleanly, its svn939 with benmachine0017.patch only.

isn't ver 0019 out nowi was playing on a server with it and the tesla weapon doesn't work so i can't use lightning on opponents lol hive is fun no targeting needed need acid and tesla to be added acid would be fun

ok: when you join a team, before you spawn type:

/class than for what you look like type, than for what you are/shoot type here.

Example: /class level2 hive= marauder with a hive. or

/class human_base level3upg human that is an adv. Dragoon.

allways /class first. Human_ whatever for human base or bsuit, thats all I think. Than level#

Riot gun. So called because it knocks enemies away without damaging them.
It didn't work that well, I'm trying to think of ways in can be improved.

Does anyone else get a weird yellow error ingame when trying to play this mod? Also, it doesn't let me beuild anything but repeaters, OM/RC and Medi/Arm.

It also has this weird effect as if I am bobbing through the ground, up and down over and over.

Generally the mod has many great things but the less powerful stuff is never used because you need to fight hardest to survive this cheat fest. People would most likely play it more if there were stage/cost/bp restrictions.

Oi Ben we have your Mod hosted only I never put it up unless by request D= No random crashes, only the new one crashes a lot. Think version 0020 or so is quite stable.

I got how to launch a server [Lan]

I use the Cmd.exe :

tremded.exe +set dedicated 2 +exec server.cfg  +set fs_game benmachine?

Oh does the qvm go into the hidden VM Folder???
 

EDIT!:    YAY it works?

When i try to connect it my server it says .. "Client/Server Mismatch. Base/benmachine" ???????????????


Am i missing a file to put in there or somthing?

The QVM does go into the hidden VM folder, yes.
The hidden base folder should also have the pk3s in it.
The error you quoted means that either the server is loading the wrong game.qvm or the client is loading the wrong pk3s.
