Hi
I wanted to introduce my new map "The Two Towers." The map is small and is intended for 4 to 14 players.

This map is well put together and pretty good looking, but the lack of vis separation makes for a really laggy experience. Nearly the whole map is being rendered at every single spot in the map. Try using r_showtris 1, and you'll see. If you don't fix this, nobody will ever want to play this map. I also have some doubts about the gameplay.
To put it bluntly, unless you manage to fix the vis issue, this map is useless. Looks good though.

He can't fix the vis. As the map is he might be able to make a few small areas near the bases which would be hidden from the center but they won't help.
I also have some doubts about the gameplay.
Major concern. Humans rule. If they are able to get up and build a base above their original location (or the aliens, way less likely) they are so ridiculously hard to get to with anything bigger than a basi. And if you fail you will most likely fall into the lava and die. Due to it's long open nature, 1.2's unlagged and the md/lasgun well, no more words necessary. A fleeing, attacking tyrant can be shot from such a distance that it won't be used, the goons might be the most useful class. Marauders can't walljump in the middle. Dretches and basis have no true place to hide because beneath the bridge is just too weak and prone.
Aliens will adjust and try to go to the human base as dretch and evo to higher classes. But those can't flee, might not evo due to proximity or die on their way there. Although there are a few places to hide eggs they are exactly that, few. So few places that don't drop you into lava or open sight that they are too predictable.
I like the architecture though. :wink:

Yes. It's a good looking map, but in it's current state it'll do better as a generic Q3/OA/Nex/etc... CTF map.

I agree.
You should add some obstacals on the bridge, or a 'tunnel' type structure underneath to provide passage for smaller aliens so they won't get gunned down as soon as they leave their base.

Fine, you "nade" your own base, a structure ffire decon. Not stalking, just every time I see you in a game you're doing something to get bant.
This map looks badass, needs some work to even out gameplay though.

This map looks good and therefore it's cool. Who gives a shit about gameplay, most players do not even have the common sense to play game. I like your creativity Pluto, too bad your map is unplayable because of the aforementioned VIS issues.

actually the origins of those kinda maps are one of the unreal tournament's CTF map ; faces or something. but it may even have link to LOTR

File upload still seems a bit slow, but certainly a great deal faster than it was. :)

I like your creativity, although I doubt if you really 'fixed' the somewhat lacking gameplay. Great looking map though, keep up the good work!

For b2:
First, just like many other maps, the problem of being able to build in lava. (In S1)

Just simply jump down and build, not much skill required. :D. There is no damage to the buildings under the lava. Also there seems to be some graphic glitch as you see in the screenshots.
The general game play problem is humans still rule. The tunnel under the bridge and the "teleporter" let aliens get to the opposite tower. However, it is very difficult to attack the human base since there is only 1-way in basically. You could also consider removing the hole on the second floor of the towers to promote less sniping.
Actually, if not your map has to be related to LOTR, I would suggest "The One Tower". A neutral tower is in the middle and linked to two bridges on both sides which connect the alien and human base. I believe such maps would have less game play problems and promote intense fighting over the tower to establish front base. Well, I just don't know where to set up domination points in your map in the current state :wink:.
I don't have much fps problems in this map.
But really, the best looking map I have ever seen, good work!

Building in lava is a Trem bug.

Then I would suggest to replace the lava with an abyss. Because it is currently unplayable when people move the OM in the lava.

hmmmm...... under the bridge I have done the whole area to "No Build Area". I do not know, why one can build in lava. :-?
