I just had a really ugly experience.. on my server... and ended up spending 15 minutes kicking and banning people who kept comming back..

maps where lasting a minute or 2.. .and i eventually just got fed up and took down the server...

But I put my banlist in a separate config...

It's here if any admins have to go through the same thing:

sorry about that...

You where there.. that was absolutely insane, def wasnt just one person was def a group of people....

I'd guess they where on teamspeak or vent, because it seemed awfully coordinated.

No problem.

But from what I've seen, its only one guy. I saw him respawn and patiently destroy egg/teleporter, then destroy other structures.

When kicked, he just changed nickname and came back.

I personally thank the feature to "find friend" while choosing server. I put the part he don't change from his nick and tried to find the friend. I noted wich server he was and then joined another. ;)

Actually the incident I was talking about was multiple people... very different IPs and 1,2 and 3 of em on the server at once...

Team killing is also becomming an issue, I was in another match and sereral "childish players" started to team kill.

I think if friendly fire settings are in this mod they should be used, it also sucks to get killed accidently by a team member5 aswell. Esepcially when the tension is high its easy to miss you're shot and hit a teamate.

if there is a friendly fire option admins please make sure it is on, if there is not a friendly fire option it needs to be implemented.

The default option for servers is that there is no team damage.  So most servers will be running like that.  Though I'm interested in how a game would play out with team damage on, assuming there are careful players on my team...

Played on a server last night that had it on. With a few minor mishaps, it actually went fine.

Of course, I'm used to FF being on, because I play ET. ET without FF is like toast without butter. Just dumb. :P This is why I really don't care when I kill my own team mate or my team mate kills me... because ACCIDENTS HAPPEN. Now, if you are doing it on purpose, then that's a whole different matter.

I think part of the problem is that in Trem it doesn't really give you an idication that you killed your teammate, just a name.  I think some people just thought they were getting lots of enemy kills until they were yelled at.

yeah shafe u missed someone around 10:30 this morning who was a complete ahole... he wrecked the base and ended the game within a few mins all purposly and on a few maps in a row...kicking did nothing and i couldnt ban him...he kept coming back as diff names such as klingon,karl,nigger hater...very rude behavior and language...complete jerk...ruined it for no reason...if there is a way u can look at some log and get his ip i say ban his ass to f'n hell!!!!!!!!

These idiots have really made the game less fun, and I was thinking of ways that the damages these folks could do could be minimized.

-do not allow the last spawn to be deleted.

-it might be interesting if you have to team vote to delete the genrator/om.

-make it take time to delete a structure.

I have been playing a lot and seen these guys on a bunch of different servers. This is their MO
-pretend to be the victim, vote to kick other players

-place spawn where people spawning fall to their death (avoidable, but annoying)

-delete everything except all guns around the generator. They never leave, and so it makes it very hard for the alien team to win.

-Delete everything in base causing the team to lose

I swear, when they do type it is like they are retarded. They can't get a single word spelled correctly.

Don't be too much paranoid, yesterday when playing human a vote was requested for kicking a player who deconstruct the reactor and some spawners. In fact it was an experienced player who has decided to move the base on a better place. Result of the vote : 4 vs 4 ouf, not kicked !
Maybe the player has send a message for informed teamates about his intention, but it's hard to look at all messages. I was one of the 4 newbies who have voted "kick" :D

I agree with Ninjas about "do not allow the last spawn to be deleted".

Edit : Exact CanadaDemon, I've replaced "ban" by "kick"

Is there any chance to get the IP of connected players logged? This would help much in tracking down such repeated and pointed attacks by people like that nexterholland guy in the last couple of days. I've blocked IPs and some dialin ranges, but it was where annoying to lurk, only because I have to type "status" to see their IP.

I allready looked into the code and in the ClientConnect function, the IP is allready present. I only do not want to reinvent the wheel, so thats why I'm asking if there was an allready existing solution (not much familiar with that strange quake stuff).

Seems I did not have any luck on this. I patched the ClientConnect function in g_client.c with a G_LogPrintf statement. But this is dead code in tremded? Does anyone know, where the "ClientConnect: X" logmessages are coming from? Are they sent thru the client? By grepping the sources, this is the only code part, where a "ClientConnect" string appears.

Meanwhile, I'm logging the console output with redirection of fd2 and tee. But it would be interesting to have a real log instead of this dirty hack.

One word to the players: please, if some troublemaker is on the server, do not things make worse by running insane too. The admin can't allways see what you see, so actually you have to *tell* it. It makes no sense to state "f*ck, kick him". Who? Admins can't read your mind. Please tell exactly _who_ did _what_ in an _understandable_ fashion. Thanks.

That's a pretty stupid idea. Most LLJK I know are awesome folk. The only troublemakers are "all lljk nexterholland" and the fake "lljk R1CH". The real R1CH is actually quite awesome, even going as far as making a modified client with some small fixes and a mod which adds some admin functionality to trem servers:

hey listen there was 1 person in the game destroying everything in the human base and when we told him to stop he kept going man that guy was annoying and we couldnt kick him out. that was the worse part of it and everyone started to leave because of him and everyone wanted to ban him because he's been doing that.

I was kicked from a game for doing well .... nothing a guy came in and started removing the human/alien base this went on for 3 games untill i complained,the griefer then made a vote to kick me in which it ended up Yes 8 No 1

The admin system running on tjw is absolutely awsome.. ( http://www.tjw.org/tremulous/ )  if all the rest of the servers started running this it would help greatly.   I'd love to see built into the next version.

It looks like we have another goon griefer.

[LLJK]barometer appears to be one, except he is a bit more sneaky about it.

And, if you see [lljk]coolp, keep an eye on him.  I am not quite sure he is a griefer, but he did seem to deconstruct some things rather suspiciously.

LLJK seems to be a real clan, but they don't care if others abuse their Tag, so I don't see any reson they should keep it if they don't defend it...

We should send that ban demons after names with "LLJK", "lljk", and "all" in them.  GO MY DEMONS OF BANNINATION!
