So I was thinking (a rare occurence, I know) and I thought, what if someone comes to the forums and just wants to make a quick post but doesn't want to make an account? Or what if an uber-l33t person wants to ask a n00b question? So I was going to make a "guest" account, with password "guest" that anyone could use, but I wanted to check it out with everyone first.
I know it could be used to spam or say bad things, but then, someone else could log in and edit it, right?
So what do you think?

No, registering is done automatically without human intervention atm. There is no need for such a thing.
Want to ask a single thing? Make an account, it's not hard, doesn't take long, and ensures you will actually be thought off as worthwhile.
-
Guest accounts are mainly used by spam bots and/or spammer persons. (Btw, Trem's Forum is already heavily populated with spammers of all kinds)

Indeed. It's just comforting to know that at least the spammers have to waste precious seconds registering new "legitimate seeming" accounts before wreaking havoc upon the forums.
-
Chances are if you dont register an account, your posts will be nonsense questions / spam.
-
agreed
it's anonymous, after all
guest account not necessary
but nice of you to think of others
floodbud
spamzorz need no encouragement
guest account would be most banned, locked, flamed account
/me sez:
get an account and stick with it
even if dumb questions make you look non-l33t
or you just have one thing to ask b4 u never post again
-
If it's a noob question, then search first.
If a search turned up nothing and they still want to know, they better register. Because nothing's without time and effort.
-
Just being thoughtful...stupid me.
Not a good idea after all, conversation closed.

Truf!
-
Another problem: what happens when someone changes the password?
-
Well the forum has a allow guest posting option, which would be used in preference to an account.
-
Guests must die!
-
Hmm. There is a bugmenot entry. That's close enough, right?
-
No. If spambot has to register, you can make the registration a bit harder for robots and simply delete all posts sent by spambot accounts. Allowing guest posting takes both of these things away.
BTW, how about turning floodbud into guest? :tyrant: :D

anything to lower the amount of pointless posts on that account would be helpful :D
