Title: New HUD/View for 1.2

Hi there.

My idea is a adjustment of the HUD of humans for more eye-candy.

Instead, for example while you're wearing a helmet, your view is outside the helmet or not showing the inside the helmet, that you can see the the inside of the helmet, the same counts for the Bsuit, aliens are already getting the choppaz, so they already got the idea :).

Also, instead of showing your ammo in the HUD, it could show the ammo on the weapon, maybe not with some weapons, but for example with the rifle or the shotgun, there could be some kind of monitor on the gun which shows your ammo count.

Haven't seen anything similair to my idea, apart from custom made HUD's, which don't do what my idea does.

I'd rather have a hud that's scalable ala UT99's.  I mean, I barely look at that stuff a good chunk of the time I'm playing but I can't shrink it without a resolution resize and I can't adjust the transparency of it, either.

Though I suppose that'll never happen. :cry:

As to not be offtopic: scalable huds are neat, but ammo-on-weapon is neater, especially when teammates can see your ammo count, too. Make the ammo-on-weapon counter's background flash from black to yellow when out of ammo, and from black to red when reloading, and you could have some pretty interesting teamplay based on ammocounts. :D
(Plus, ammo-on-weapon makes sure that the part of the screen blocked by the weapon view is at least used for something instead of graphics eye-candy)

So long as the aliens can't see when I'm out.
Tricking them into thinking I'm out of ammo is a great trick.  Bit like making them think I have ammo when I don't...

I don't think you realise how hard this would be.

Getting an md3 shader to work like that could take Timbo weeks!

I'd love a more streamlined HUD. You could put ammo on the gun, health show up in your HUD (I'd love something like Ghost Recon...a number with the human's pulse? This would serve for stamania and health.)

The Star Wars one seems tasteful.

I was previously strongly against this idea, but if it's something minimal like the Star Wars one and not the ugly and wasted 1/3 of your screen like the Metroid one, it could work.
