I changed to opensuse some time backwards (from XP) and trem has decided to lag randomly, mostly when a victim arrives to my screen  .
Im getting better fps than in windoze but on windoze it managed to keep fps also when there was alot more stuff to draw on screen,
my pc is an "old" amd athlon xp 2200+ with ancient geforce 4MX (Newest offcial closed source drivers)
Please post any ideas that might work, i wanna play :/

try the legacy nvidia driver, geforce 4MX is basically an overclocked geforce2, and those require the older drivers iirc. i would enable the lagometer just to make sure that it isn't your connection. it could also be some background task eating your cpu, because q3 is mostly cpu bound, and anything above a geforce2 should have no problem keeping up with it.

How do YOU lag... i got GeForce 2 MX/400 and i get no lag... weird comp bro
-
i had the same problem for two weeks, 10 fps xD
then i reinstalled graphics driver and everything was fine ;]
now i got 250 again :granger: xD

1. I got lagometer on and its not my connection
2. Will try the drivers
3. Already checked the process list and ran it with better nice, no difference
4. I dont really think its my GPU as the lag doesnt appear depending on amount of stuff to draw, its just about random
Evlesoa geforce 2MX is just great chip, got it in another comp and runs trem just fine with around 80fps (You can play with it unless you are used to something better)

Great chip??? its like 7 years old!

your lagometer would probably show this, but in case it doesn't and you forgot, make sure you have your rate set to 25000.
you're not using 64 bit trem by any chance are you?

Yea my rate is 25000 and 32bit trem (tjw version)
-
yea my linux box lags too...even though it's like twice as ood as my macbook, graphics card/processor-wise. So the only solution to this we've found is reinstalling the drivers?

For me official version works great but with tjw I have lousy fps'. I have been too lazy to find out why.
-
What processor architecture do you have? You may have uncovered a bug.

Have you installed them in the first place?
If so then reinstalling wont make any difference.

Intel Core 2 Duo.

Geforce 2 is a great card, period.

Thanks dude! That seems to fix it, running on maxfps all the time 8)

With this client (http://www.trem-servers.com/index.php?page=downloads) I don't have fps problems as I used to have with tjw.
