ehhh ehhh ehh JUST NO
http://files.filefront.com/PakScape/;1323402;/fileinfo.html
This is the software for making pk3's
It requires the .bsp file only.
If you include the .map then people can work on your map.
Get a tutorial on how to use it.

*cough* mac *cough*
every time I see a thread like this, people say that a pk3 is the same as a zip only named different...don't blame me
-
It is a zip file.
Make sure you have all the paths right.
-
never mind, i found a .pk3 creator
-
Hit command-I (the letter 'i') on it, go to "Name & Extension", edit extension/type there. Ex. Change *.zip to *.pk3, hit "return", click the button to use .pk3, and you are done.

so i use q3map2, put the .bsp in a .zip file, rename it .pk3, and put it in my base, rite?

as long as the .bsp is in a subdir called maps when you zip it.
Or in other words, read this (http://tremmapping.pbwiki.com/Starting+Tremulous+Mapping#LayoutofthePK3).

Is it really that hard to rename a zip file?

no, the subdirectory thing got me

you could just view some pk3s (like arachnid2, atcs) to see the layout... anyway it has been explained for hundreds of times
