Changelog
Version 1.5.1 (August-27-2008)
- Redesigned the "Server Info" dialog using new colors. It now should be able to fully display the values of the server variables (and player names) without cutting them;
- Credits icon ($) for humans no more depends on an image, thus it now works on all servers (pure and unpure) [Thanks Volt for the idea];
- Changed the text on the footer of the main screen;
- Fixed the Servers List screen being closed if the user clicked in the margins (last pixels) of the screen boundaries.
Version 1.5.0 (December-31-2007)
- Created a "Hud Options" menu to change the HUD's settings. It can be accessed through the main Tremulous screen.
It contains:- A tab with an explanation about the HUD;
- The option to toggle between different displays of the Crosshair;
- An option to enable/disable the new Team Overlay;
- An option to enable/disable the Lag Meter (it is faulting on the official menus);
- A button to run the uninstaller, with a confirmation dialog.
You can close the menu by pressing Esc, by clicking out of it or by clicking the OK button.
[The idea of creating a configuration menu come from K-otic's HUD] - Created a Team Overlay (a small Scoreboard that is displayed without the need of pressing Tab);
- Changed the background of the "Connecting to" and of the Server List screens;
- Fix to the uninstaller file (warriorHudUndo.cfg) that will now revert to the previous HUD set, instead of the default Tremulous HUD. Useful if the user was using a different HUD before installing my one;
- Some small improvements to the Loading screen;
- Moved the installation files to the ui folder;
- Readme updated.
Version 1.4.4 (November-13-2007)
- Added the Stage information centered in the bottom of the screen;
- Changed the color of the item selection mark in the Inventory;
- Text shadow for the pop-up text displaying the name of the selected Inventory item.
Version 1.4.3 (November-07-2007)
- Implemented the trick to hide the scrollbars from the Scoreboard;
- Scoreboard can now show nicks with up to 32 characters. Previously, it was limited to 24 and I guess Tremulous limit nicks to 31 characters, anyway.
Version 1.4.2 (July-06-2007)
- Fixed: there was a reference to a missing script in the server list screen since I added the fix for the "Ping" column;
- New: Human health points will change color according to these intervals: 100-75 = green, 74-25 = yellow, 24-0 = red;
- Changed the build timer color;
- Small details improved.
Version 1.4.1 (June-13-2007)
- Created a temporary solution to the problem where the "$" symbol was not shown on pure servers, now it will (hopefully) show the old symbol on those servers;
- Almost imperceptible improvement to the Loading Screen.
Version 1.4 (June-12-2007)
- Major rework in the Loading Screen: map screenshot is now displayed in fullscreen size, changed transparencies/colors and resized items;
- Added the "Options" button to the Main Menu - TinMan's suggestion;
- Included the fix for the "Ping" column sorting bug;
- Option to set crosshair for humans only;
- Fixed: in v1.3, the warriorHudDefCross.cfg was setting the crosshair only for the humans.
Version 1.3 (June-11-2007)
- Thanks Paradox for the tip.
- Players can now choose between three behaviors for the crosshair:
- Crosshair for all aliens and for humans (recommended);
- Default Tremulous 1.1.0 (crosshair for humans and for some alien classes only);
- No Crosshair at all (disable crosshair for both teams).
- Now, those options can be changed during games without needing to restart Tremulous;
- Please, refer to the "Installation" section of the Readme to know how to toggle between them.
- The previous feature allowed the remotion of two unnecessary files and some redundant code;
- Reduced Advanced Dragoon barbs transparency a bit so they are better visualized on bright backgrounds;
- Updated the "Installation" section of the Readme and added the "Installation Troubleshooting" section about a frequent problem;
- Renamed "Readme.htm" to "warriorHudReadme.htm".
Version 1.2.2 (June-10-2007)
- Fixed: "The scoreboard contents are slightly too low for the boundary boxes on them" - Thanks, TinMan;
- Some insignificant tweaks in the near code.
Version 1.2.1 (June-09-2007)
- Improved Scoreboard transparencies a bit;
- Small increase in the spectators space;
- Renamed the file warrior_default_hud.menu to warrior_spectator_hud.menu.
Version 1.2 (June-08-2007)
- Full Inventory for Humans! It shows everything you can carry now;
- Improved Scoreboard colors a bit;
- Separated the files into two versions: 1. With crosshair for all aliens (the recommended style) and 2. With the default Tremulous 1.1.0 alien's crosshair (only some aliens can use crosshair);
- Changed the purple gradient color in the Loading screen to a red one.
Version 1.1 (June-07-2007)
- Changed Scoreboard colors to match team colors;
- Shadows on Scoreboard texts;
- Fixed the server motd space in the map Loading screen that was overlapping progress bars on servers with long motd;
- Loading screen progress bars with background gradient;
- Some minor tweaks;
- Added version number to the package.
Version 1.0 (Initial Version) (June-06-2007)
- Many colors and transparency effects were changed [some color ideas were gotten from Phreak's HUD];
- On-screen texts with shadow, what helps reading texts a lot!;
- Crosshair for all aliens;
- Advanced Dragoon's barbs position from Phreak's HUD;
- The green "cross" symbol will change its color to red when the player has 9 or less HP [before, only the human "cross" would change to red];
- Created a new "credits" icon for humans using the money symbol ("$") instead of the default ("C");
- Bundled files organization was improved to reduce repeated texts on different files thus reducing the package size [idea from Wolfwings].

maybe you should make the inventory show everything :D
Looks nice, like the transparent parts!! :D
-
yea man thats really good! Much better than *cough* someone around here who's hud is just re-arranged and... bulky IMO
-
Yea will see how to make a full inventory without broking things and being compatible with low-res.
Note: for people like me that may have trouble to enter a server if using the .pk3, simply extract the file into your /base folder so you'll have a ui folder direct in the base folder (/base/ui).
Edit: Actually my inventory is acting the same way of the one from Paradox... it can show all items only if you keep the selection mark in some certain position.

Updated!
Changelog
Version 1.1 (Jun-07-2007)- Changed Scoreboard colors to match team colors;
- Shadows on Scoreboard texts;
- Fixed the server motd space in the map Loading screen that was overlapping progress bars on servers with long motd;
- Loading screen progress bars with background gradient;
- Some minor tweaks;
- Added version number to the package.
Refer to the first post to see some screenshots and to download it.
-
Looks great :)
How do I use it though?
I tried /cg_hudfiles but it said the file couldnt be found..
-
OMFG!!! This is a great hud!!!! Everyone, Download this!!!!.....
Download Right NOW!!!![/size]
How do I use it though?
I tried /cg_hudfiles but it said the file couldnt be found..
Did you unzip it in the Tremulous/base file?
If you did, you only have to put /exec warriorhud.cfg into the console, or /cg_hudfiles "ui/warrior.cfg" would work to.
If you didn't unzip the .pk3, it should also work :D (have to be in base)
Also, I found a way to make the inventory show everything :D
just open warrior_human_hud.menu with Wordpad (or alike) and change the rect of //INVENTORY into 182.5 425 275 25. It should look like this: //INVENTORY
itemDef
{
name "inventory"
//rect 232.5 425 175 25
rect 182.5 425 275 25
visible 1
decoration
forecolor 1 1 1 .6
ownerdraw CG_PLAYER_SELECT
}
Now you see the whole inventory without scroling :D
(ps:Notice that the maximum of items allowed in the screen is 6 (with 600X800). So if you have a Blaster, Gun, L-Armour, Helmet, Medkit and a Batterypack, you cant see the Grenade. :(
So sell that Batterypack and go PWN those Aliens :D)
-
For some reason the new credit sign wont work :-? Everyhing else is perfect... btw Love the new scoreboard and loading screen.
EDIT: Ok I fixed it, but can you make another version without alien crosshair?
-
Cool! The scoreboard reminds me of CounterStrike :).
-
Guess ill have to steal some of your stuff and modify it to be mine!
Mwahaha.
Unless you say no :(

The Read-Me (http://warrior.memebot.com/base/warriorHudReadme.html) file is on the net so you don't need to extract it to read.
First post updated.
@Paradox: You can use my ideas with the condition you keep the credits for them... be creative!

I don't know why, but if you run a local server using the tremulous.exe it will be ok. Tremulous seems to have some problems in finding non-default files/images... if someone can solve that problem with the "$" please tell me.

Happens for me too.

you can't use images not in pk3s on the pure list on pure servers.

Thanks. I thought it only applied to .pk3 files itself, especially .pk3 for maps. Nice to know about the images in the hud.

another "bug" i've found. I get double crosshair when adv goon and adv mara. Its pretty weird lookin ;s

another "bug" i've found. I get double crosshair when adv goon and adv mara. Its pretty weird lookin ;s
I think it is nice!
Someone else dislikes the double crosshair for Adv Goon/Mara and wants it fixed?
-
No, i actually like it, but if you just set the crosshair size up a bit, it looks fine.
Another trick is possibly using human crosshairs on aliens...
-
You should make it so the human weapons don't scroll like they do. It's a tad bit annoying on HUDs that the icons all move when you scroll them, I'd rather have the selection image move to the item.
-
That requires a rewrite of the uiScripts
-
Well, then, rewrite it!
xD
-
what do the "common" hud files do?
i.e. warrior_alien_common_hud
warrior_common_hud
(why no human?)
im guessing defaultcross means no alien crosshairs...
but i dont get warrior_default_hud either...
-
n00b pl0x,
In warrior_common_hud I grouped blocks common to both teams; warrior_alien_common_hud contains blocks common to both alien types (grangers and non-grangers); these groups reduce repeated codes; humans don't needed one because builders/non-builders are in the same file. warrior_default_hud is the one for the spectator's hud.
Anyway, I'll see if I can eliminate some file for the aliens, grouping the blocks even more, without breaking the hud.
-
i dont see why having grangers and non grangers separated is such a big deal. it only adds like 1-2kb to the hud's filesize...
-
In the default Trem hud each of those files have 7kb.

Do you have any suggestions for a new tag? Why not keep my nick on it?
Btw, what's the actual vcxzet nick on the forums? (I suppose PFB, but he was for f0rqu3 before)
Edit:
n00b pl0x,
I tried to merge the two files and I did it, but it was not worth, for three main reasons:
1. I needed to modify other files out of the Hud folder and would need to include them what caused a package size increment;
2. Anyway I would need to use 2 separated files, one for default crosshair and one for crosshair for all aliens (or 3 files, one big and two smalls for another approach);
3. It could generate new problems for Tremulous find/use the correct files...

Minor update version
Version 1.2.1 (Jun-09-2007)- Improved Scoreboard transparencies a bit;
- Small increase in the spectators space;
- Renamed the file warrior_default_hud.menu to warrior_spectator_hud.menu.
Screenshots and links updated in the first post.

A++
Awesome HUD.
Edit : I can't seem to be able to connect on some servers(pure? It work on SST). I get an error: menu file not found : ui/warrior.cfg using default.
I never got this with phreak's. Can you fix this?
-
Personaly I think all "new" huds are colour changes and change of layout. Of cource few have done totaly uncoo minimall block hud. If you want to be recodnized learn to be orginal with graphics. Soon we are hearing comments from trem regulars to newcomers who want to change hud and release them "just another colour swap", "Not another minmal hud", "Yay! I've always wanted to have my hud stuffed into center off hud" and etc.
this is not rant to your hud spificly... more like to all huds released.
None of the ideas expressed above are actually mine. They are told to me by Luthor and Ferdinand, the five inch tall space aliens who live under my desk. In return for these ideas, I have given them permission to eat any dust bunnies they may find under there.
-
you can't add new things to the hud, how creative can you get with that?
-
Yea, we can't add new screen items to the Hud without changing the game source; so, my hud is only a color/transparency/layout improvement from the original; and I'm not a programmer to be able to change the game source-code. Moreover, I don't see advantages in removing elements to increase visibility at the maximum, losing important information sometimes. And I'm not good at creating new modern images (graphics). Hopefully Trem 1.2 will bring some new nice Hud (Jex is working on the Hud).
-
Warrior, you dont have to include 2 hudfiles to controll the alien crosshair, you can use what i added to the 6/10/07 version of my hud, cvars.
Add this block to each alien crosshair block:
cvartest cg_drawCrosshair
showCvar{2}
hideCvar{1;0}
That allows the player to set cg_drawCrosshair to 1 for human only, and to 2 for alien, or to 0 for none at all.

Maybe I'd add it to the readme... or should I make the package a .zip so people know it'd be extracted?

Maybe more understandable, but people should try to read the previous posts. That should me more usefull :roll:
PS: You quoted me 2 times!! I really start feeling I know more about HUD's than most people(EXcluding you ofcourse :D)
maybe Ill try to make my own HUD :D

Version 1.3 (June-11-2007)
- Thanks Paradox for the tip.
- Players can now choose between three behaviors for the crosshair:
- Crosshair for all aliens and for humans (recommended);
- Default Tremulous 1.1.0 (crosshair for humans and for some alien classes only);
- No Crosshair at all (disable crosshair for both teams).
- Now, those options can be changed during games without needing to restart Tremulous;
- Please, refer to the "Installation" section of the Readme to know how to toggle between them.
- The previous feature allowed the remotion of two unnecessary files and some redundant code;
- Reduced Advanced Dragoon barbs transparency a bit so they are better visualized on bright backgrounds;
- Updated the "Installation" section of the Readme and added the "Installation Troubleshooting" section about a frequent problem;
- Renamed "Readme.htm" to "warriorHudReadme.htm".
-
The read me is down just so you know
-
thx warrior 1.3 is working for me. i unziped the .pk3 and put all contents into base folder then i did the /exec warriorHudNoCross.cfg cmd . i hope you keep making better and better HUD's :D
-
adv mara has no crosshair
-
Thanks for fixing that scores problem.
You should add this to your HUD, it's an updated main menu so players can change some options without having to join a game:
http://www.evilbastard.org/slight/zomg-options.pk3
-
adv mara has no crosshair
Of course don't have, if you used the warriorHudNoCross.cfg. For complete crosshair, use the warriorHud.cfg.
The read me is down just so you know
It's on the package too. So, open the .pk3 and read it there. Thanks.
-
Oh, and for the alien health cross, you could use the addColorRange command, i am using it in the next version to change the ammo number's colors depending on amount.
http://rfactory.org/hudexample.html is the one that tells you about that command.
I am using it like so to change the color of ammo or make it go away on weapons without ammo:
//AMMO
itemDef
{
name "ammo"
rect 285 255 45 11.25
visible 1
decoration
forecolor 0.0 0.8 1.0 .5
textScale .3
ownerdraw CG_PLAYER_AMMO_VALUE
addColorRange -999 0 0 0 0 0
addColorRange 0 10 1 0 0 .5
addColorRange 10 20 1 .75 0 .5
addColorRange 20 999 0 0.8 1.0 .5
}
-
Paradox, my alien health cross already change color (green -> red) ;)
About the "ammo number's colors" I don't see the necessity, because the weapon icon already change to red on low-ammo (maybe later I think on it again, if they don't release Trem1.2 before and break all of our cute huds lol).
TinMan: I added it right now, but will wait some more changes before releasing the next version (I'm releasing too much versions lol).
-
Thanks for fixing that scores problem.
You should add this to your HUD, it's an updated main menu so players can change some options without having to join a game:
http://www.evilbastard.org/slight/zomg-options.pk3
Think about it, if your advanced enough to install a hud, do you even use the options pane?
-
Yeah, I use it for messing with audio and seeing how leet my gfx info is.
-
I never used the GL Info page, because:

i know why it doesn't work, but yet the ugly square puts me off ;s
dodo
-
Would it be possible for the $ sign to show up on unpure servers, and have the default symbol show up in the pure ones?
The square isn't that bad, but having the default one in its place would be better. Right now, it's pretty much my only problem with this hud.
-

same here, default symbol would be good. That was what i meant by saying "fix it" :).
dodo
-
Not sure if the local sv_pure is set by the server. If there is a local cvar that is set by the server one, you could use a cvartest to swap them out.
-
sv_pure is set at the server...
Edit: ... but I found that the server sets it locally too (the same variable) (not sure if works always). Will release a possible fix for that. Thanks Paradox again for the idea; btw, do you know if we can (and how) use the "cvartest" to change only one parameter like "background" instead of enabling/disabling the whole itemDef?
-
Yes, but isnt there some client response cvar?
-
Version 1.4.1 (June-13-2007)
- Created a temporary solution to the problem where the "$" symbol was not shown on pure servers, now it will (hopefully) show the old symbol on those servers;
- Almost imperceptible improvement to the Loading Screen.
Download links at the top of the first post.
-
why does the custom loading screen only work on some servers? and then the old one w/ the red and black bar work in some.i thought the custom loading screen w/ enlarged map in background and blue bar would be in all servers ??
-
Yes, but isnt there some client response cvar?
no there isn't, if there was such a trivial way to circumvent sv_pure it would take absolutely 0 effort to cheat in tremulous (and on servers such as yours with sv_pure off, it also takes no effort)
-
Alright, you could use some nonused cvar to adjust which one it is in game, since there is no client response cvar to sv_pure.
-

Maybe you installed it wrongly or was playing on some server with a mod that don't use the "base" folder? Not sure about playing in a modded server though.
For kevlarman & Paradox:

Hmm, ill look, there might be something like backgroundCvar instead of showCvar, that is what i would try.
I was thinking that you could copy the element, and have one only show when sv_pure was true, and have the other only show when sv_pure was false.
-
Yea that's what I did in v1.4.1, copied the entire itemDef block, but it's not very efficient (two almost identical codes for the same thing).
-
the old sign for $ works, thanks :)
dodo
-
Version 1.4.2 (July-06-2007)
- Fixed: there was a reference to a missing script in the server list screen since I added the fix for the "Ping" column;
- New: Human health points will change color according to these intervals: 100-75 = green, 74-25 = yellow, 24-0 = red;
- Changed the build timer color;
- Small details improved.

Version 1.4.3 (November-07-2007)
- Implemented the trick to hide the scrollbars from the Scoreboard;
- Scoreboard can now show nicks with up to 32 characters. Previously, it was limited to 24 and I guess Tremulous limit nicks to 31 characters, anyway.

@Werewulf: If you have another Hud or some Mod with a modified Hud included, I suggest you disable/unset/remove it in order to avoid problems. Be sure to read carefully the "Installation" section of my Readme to learn how to activate the Hud.

Watch the next release be on March 8th, 2008.
Intervals of 4 months, 1 day.

...You want to know how you can turn the hud on and off?
The zip should contain a warriorHudUndo.cfg file in it, execute it. The cfg file contains the next code: // Warrior's HUD - Uninstaller: Revert the changes made by this HUD
seta cg_hudFiles "ui/hud.txt"
seta ui_menuFiles "ui/menus.txt"
seta cg_drawCrosshair 4

Btw, I'll release version 1.5.0 soon (hopefully, before the New Year so people will have a better year transition)...

Version 1.5.0 (December-31-2007)
- Created a "Hud Options" menu to change the HUD's settings. It can be accessed through the main Tremulous screen.
It contains:- A tab with an explanation about the HUD;
- The option to toggle between different displays of the Crosshair;
- An option to enable/disable the new Team Overlay;
- An option to enable/disable the Lag Meter (it is faulting on the official menus);
- A button to run the uninstaller, with a confirmation dialog.
You can close the menu by pressing Esc, by clicking out of it or by clicking the OK button.
[The idea of creating a configuration menu come from K-otic's HUD] - Created a Team Overlay (a small Scoreboard that is displayed without the need of pressing Tab);
- Changed the background of the "Connecting to" and of the Server List screens;
- Fix to the uninstaller file (warriorHudUndo.cfg) that will now revert to the previous HUD set, instead of the default Tremulous HUD. Useful if the user was using a different HUD before installing my one;
- Some small improvements to the Loading screen;
- Moved the installation files to the ui folder;
- Readme updated.
The "Happy New Year" major version!

Version 1.5.1 (August-27-2008)
- Redesigned the "Server Info" dialog using new colors. It now should be able to fully display the values of the server variables (and player names) without cutting them;
- Credits icon ($) for humans no more depends on an image, thus it now works on all servers (pure and unpure) [Thanks Volt for the idea];
- Changed the text on the footer of the main screen;
- Fixed the Servers List screen being closed if the user clicked in the margins (last pixels) of the screen boundaries.
