Title: Odd problem, perhaps my map is not compiling properly
Post by: Megaman on June 07, 2007, 04:39:46 am
I have built a trem map that utilizes Q3map2's ability to cel-shade a map.  It is named Holodex.  In all my tests, the .bsp runs fine.  Now, I am trying to send the map to a friend to see if he is able to run it, but now it does not recognize a .bsp is even there.

Yes, holodex.bsp is in the maps/ folder.
Yes, the textures are in textures/holodex folder.
Yes, holodex.shader and holodex.arena are in the scripts folder.

It repeatedly says that it cannot find maps/holodex.bsp when I know it is there.... which makes me sad.

If anyone has any knowledge on that front, please tell me.

You sent him a .pk3? If you just sent him the .bsp, make sure he does /sv_pure 0 and then /devmap holodex.

If you sent him a correctly structured .pk3, then I have no idea.

That probably wasn't much help  :-? .

It would be easier to see if someone besides your friend gets the problem. If you are willing either put up a link or pm someone you trust of the mappers to take a look at it.

Thank you for your concern.  After extensive testing, I have traced the problem to 2 things.  That particular friend was actually unzipping the .pk3 when trying to implement it, and the .arena file had a bad hidden character in it (it gave the wrong map name).

Thank you again.
