Get the trem source.

Install XCode.  If you dont do this, you cant do it.

He said "on a macintosh".

XCode is the basic coding program.  I am not sure, but I think it installs 'gcc' and maybe 'make'.

Both gcc and make are in the xcode tools package. It's on any OSX install disc.

Actually, I think it does everything but basic.

EDIT:
I checked, and if you can think of it and it isnt in basic, XCode should be able to do it.

mwahah, too pr0 foryall

but anyway, sure... if u think its as simple as:
1. first few days : learnin c from a guide
2. browse trem code
3. mod's goin on

it wont be

it needs some kind of experience... ideas are pretty easy to think up (like our mates are spammin us with "IVE GOT A PRO IDEA FOR A MOD") - but u need to know what is possible, how to realise some of your ideas, what are you able to do...

if u had some codin experience (java, c, etc) + u know whats goin on in games (generally) mechanisms + u know something about trem engine and its solutions -> you can surely start tryin to mod it

if not - just gain it, learn, browse etc
dont wanna kickya off, but make some simplier things for first

The best way to learn how tremulous works is to poke around in it and see for yourself. then release a horribly broken and hideously chaotic mod that countless people somehow love anyway.

edit: also, endlessly annoy kevlarman and friends to fix your trivial bugs and find functions for you. They just love that.

...somewhere in here I should probably include some of these :P

yah im learned C++ right now so
and ive modded other games before but its allot different then this
(marathon is easiest to mod and fun)
and im doing some poking around with huds and small stuff before i go into the whole game type kind of stuff
it just seemed pretty cool and i just wanted to put some of my ideas to life instead of spamming up the mod forum
