Title: Lagging Out
Post by: duddits on June 17, 2007, 02:23:27 pm
Everytime that I die or stop moving for more than a couple of seconds I 999.  I can fix the problem temporarily by hitting the windows key and bringing trem back up.  It doesnt matter what server I'm on or if im pinging 50 or 90.  I never used to be like this, it just started happening sometime ago.  Did I change some setting or is it the tjw backport?  Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks,
Duddits

You can try:

A. Playing on servers that you ping lowly on (  Best solution)

B1. Turn on your Lagometer
Code: [Select]
/cl_lagometer 1
B2. Change your snaps to 40 with the command
Code: [Select]
/snaps 40
B2. Change your rate to 25000 with the command
Code: [Select]
/rate 25000
B3. Change your maximum packets to 125 with the command
Code: [Select]
cl_maxpackets 125
B4. And lastly, change /cl_packetdup to 1 with the command
Code: [Select]
cl_packetdup 1

Hope that Helps.

Death - I had already set all of these settings at that.  It happens even if I have low ping.

I have cable internet(not wireless) and it seems to work fine with other games.

Guess ill just try to not stop moving. :D
Title: Settings above made my problem (different) worse
Post by: Iguanna on April 18, 2008, 12:40:19 pm
In a game where I was having lag freeze type problem (different to 1st post) someone kindly tried to help me by changing the settings in the post above to the listed values. Unfortunately this seemed made my problem worse. That game was ok, but as soon as I joined another server (ping ~200) I got continuous connection interrupted and 999 in lagometer. Setting cl_maxpackets back to default (30 I think) restored the connection. So if anyone is getting lag freezes every now and again which can last like half a minute sometimes, and tend to occur latter in game when more is going on, you might be better of not using the settings above.

P.S I just looked at this info on lagometer (http://www.gameadmins.com/modules.php?name=Sections&op=viewarticle&artid=5) which was useful and will try reducing /snaps when it happens again to see if that helps. Still trying to work out cause (I think lago was yellow on bottom).

if it never used to be like this your tremulous is most likely screwed up so delete everything and reinstall it
