Well, Im having loads of troubles with compiling and zipping my maps, but just to see some progress I would like to ask if anyone could compile and .pk3 my .map file.
Anyone care to help?

It only uses textures in the main maps.
(Karith, Niveus etc)

That's not the .map - it's the .bsp and it gives me a SV_SetBrushModel: NULL error when I try to devmap it.
Post the .map and I'll build and pack it for you.

That error is caused by an empty entity. Press "L" and look for an entity that can't be expanded, then delete it.

Do whatever you want with the .map, as long as you dont release this map in any way.

It nice, but you really want the overmind and the reactor inside the house, or else the humans will have the advantage.
atm, Im trying to get the cannons working, but it doesn't seem to work. :(

Cheers, for the cannons a trigger push like pushcannons, but the Floor of the cannon will be slippy, so you kind of are pushed up the ramp.

When I try to compile, nothing seems to happen, I clicky the option, but no windows come up like they are supposed to do.

Ok, I've built the map but...
There is no lighting in the bases
Only one cannon fires - the others have no triggers or targets.
There is some Z-fighting in the raised platforms.
I had to move the alien spawn up a little to stop it from exploding on map startup. I've also caulked and changed the floor, wall and ceiling brushes so they make line contact rather than plane contact.
I'm assuming you want the cannons to be transparent (they're textured with a glass shader).

a bright light is coming from the sky :eek: (ooh, shiny :D)
and the fan is rotating around the wrong axle
still to dark in the rooms though
So you want that you jump from one cannon into the one of the enemy, or something.

i changed the name to cannon..
put it in ur maps file
open tremulous
open console
type /sv_pure 0
and /devmap cannon
and voila
but the cannons dnt work and the ladders dnt work

Well, I follow the instructions, but the age old error:
Cant find maps/cannon.bsp
This happens every time, could it be a problem with the maps folder?

The edited .map is in there too.
I had to change the cannon quite a bit since it didn't work at all.
The can't find map error:
If it's a .bsp then you need to do a /set sv_pure 0 first.

and about the map why does only 1 cannon works?
and the spinning thing in the middle
when u jump on it lightning start striking u lol
it doesn't hurts but it's there and the sound when u get launched has to be more cannon and les "pop"
for the rest it would be a nice map

It doesnt work for me, I place all the .bsp and .pk3 in the maps folder, and try it, it bloody doesnt work!

This is maddening, as well as this, I cant edit .maps from other places other than ones i build and save myself, they just dont appear in the open menu!!!!

kk let me try to explain
1) download the .pk3
2) place it in ur base folder
2) unzip it (u propable get some warning just press ok)
3) open tremulous
4) open console and type /devmap cannonland
if this wont work then u need to get Linux :p

Just open the .pk3 with your favourite zip application to get at the .map in there.

When I unzip it there is a folder called maps2, inside which is the .bsp and the .map, is this right?
(ps. It still doesnt work lol)

EDIT: Just a thought of mine, could the compile be working, but with no visual effects, and is the .bsp beinmg stored elsewhere other than my maps folder?

normally ur .bsp is stored in ur gtkradiant folder
open ur folder search program (normally u shud have it)
and type gtkradiant
and when he found the folder open it and ur .bsp shud be there

Anyway, this is the line that it shows after I compile:
Writing the compile script to '/Users/Oliver/.radiant/1.5.0/qe3bsp.sh'
The build output will be saved in '/Users/Oliver/.radiant/1.5.0/junk.txt'
Problem is the directory .radient does not exist.
Is there any way of seeing hidden folders in mac?
And when I search for macradient, only one folder full of nothing of interest comes up.

normally ur .bsp is stored in ur gtkradiant folder
Um... if Radiant is properly configured, it should automatically offer to save files in ~/.tremulous/base/maps/ . When they are compiled the bsp would be there as well and work when you try it in tremulous (remember to do sv_pure 0). If this isn't the case your Radiant is borked.

Again, if Radiant is setup right, the map will be in ~/.tremulous/base/maps . When compiling q3map2 should put the resulting bsp in the same folder. Of course if you like your setup more power to you, but when helping a new guy as in this thread the default way of doing things should be used. Using odd custom setups usually adds to the problem, especially if its just something small being overlooked. Just want ShadowNinja to know that if it isn't working as you describe BULLSEYE then that isn't part of his problem. The compiled BSP should not be showing up in your GtkRadiant folder.

Er, whenever I save stuff to the maps folder, it never shows up rthere, I just cant see them, whenever I save maps to there, It doesnt show up in Finder window, yet in the open menu of GTK, its there along with a whole heap of other stuff I cant normally see, but hen I save it to desktop, I can see em all.

Textures on walls and organic bitties arent absolutely tiny and dont look shit.

The sky is no longer wall-walkable (moonwalk eh?)

Looked at the Mist thingie.

Fan turns on wrong axis.

Things to do:
Fix the Ladders.
Fix the Cannons.
Delete the Mist. DONE
Fix the Water. DONE, hopefully fixed.
Widen the corridors and entrance (tyrants +adv goon cant get in.) DONE.
Re-Texture some Things.
Widen the hatches on roofs. DONE.
Fix the stepping up into the cannon problem. DONE
Then I can continue actually Making the map.

Q3map2 comes with Radiant, that is what MacRadiant should be using when you hit one of those build menu items. If the solution is you need to compile maps from the Terminal, I think I remember reading about the q3map2 binary being packed in that universal binary zip thing right along side Radiant.

Well if Radiant is seeing it then its there. Maybe some odd property is getting set that hides the files from Finder. Also, in UNIX (the heart of your shiny MacOSX) any file or folder beginning with a period is "hidden". So the ~/.tremulous folder in your account would be hidden by default. I would imagine Finder has an option to show hidden files and folders, try that.

Well, I couldnt find anything about showing dirctories starting in ., so obviously it is a command in terminal for me.
So, BULLSEYE, I believe you said you compiled from Terminal, hand me the k0dez!

yes but since u have a different system then me it might not work
place ur .map in ur GTKradiant folder
open terminal and type q3map2 name of ur map
like
q3map2 cannonland
it has to be the !!exact!! name
if everything is ok then he will make a .bsp
and if u are not lazy plz read the things ur terminal say

1.) But I dont HAVE a GTKRadient folder, only the icon which I can select show package contents on, thats all!
EDIT: I have a MacRadiant folder though, its full of random stuff, worth a try s'pose.
2.) Soory, guess I should have thought that one thru, Its just Im real excited, first map an all.

Look for "phantom entities" - use the entity list, also look at 0,0,0 in the editor. If you see a load of entities there then delete them.
This happens when you select a brush that is a part of an entity (elevator, trigger, etc...) then right-click -> another entity. The original entity will be moved to 0,0,0 with no key-value pairs and no brush or model. The map will compile with these but you'll get the null model error when you try to run the map.

the entity list will show up
the entity list from ur map looks like this

now the top sentance (marked red) will be visible the rest wont
but as u can see it has an arrow in front of it so press it
now u can see all ur brushes, func-trigger's, ....
kk so u see a func-static right?
and it has an arrow in front of it
this means that it has a brush
same for the blue marked sentance about the team's
now here comes ur problem
the BLACK marked stuff: like func_train, jump ...
IT HAS NO ARROW SO IT HAS NO BRUSHES
this causes the problem u have
How to fix it???
highlight them and press delete
if everything has a brush then there wont be a problem
but the trigger_jumps u made are there to let ur cannons push the aliens and humas in the air
but u just deleted em so this means that ur cannons wont work
but i can't help u whit that since my knowledge about trigger_push is 0%
