Seriously, that's the new name for the up-coming Starship Troopers movie (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0844760/).
As if they haven't stolen enough from tremulous already. Just look at their cheap-ass copy of our beloved granger.

Of course they did. With their time-machines!! >.<
-
wtf Verhoeven and Edward Neumeier ripped Tremulous !!
-
Heh, I just put in a hold at the library for the book. It's like LoTR all over again!

I didn't spot no Brainbug yet on tremulous!

something (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PajjLYiDba0) to listen to while you read that book
-
Don't bother reading the book for battles with aliens.
The book has NOTHING to do with fighting, which happens very little. It's an amazing book, though.

I didn't spot no Brainbug yet on tremulous!
You mean you haven't played the 1.2 preview release yet?

Heh, g1 :D
side question: Do the sequels feature the same kind of biting sarcasm as the first one from Verhoeven or did it turn into simple scifi heroism? (or differently put, do they compare at all?)
-
The film that came after the first was utter poop. It was some cheap horror movie with a completely different cast and director. They never released it for the cinema and most people never heard about it. You might as well pretend that movie didn't exist.
The one that's filming, however, will be made like the first (cast, director, plot). Woo!

Well, tremulous did steal a few banners from them <_<

Yeah. Trem stole from NS.
-
No, Gloom stole from Trem
-
If anybody sues, we can change dretches to mice, basilisks to little chiwawas, marauders to kangaroos, goons to tigers and tyrants into elephants and call it the big safari.

Apple will sue. We'll have to call it "Fur Trade Tycoon" or something.

You've grown up on Tremulous, or just heard the word "marauder" the first time in your life in Tremulous, which is why you find it surprising. However, "marauder" is a well known english word, just as the words tremulous, tyrant, dragoon, and even dretch! Look up a dictionary if you don't believe me.

i was married to a dretch
she was the daughter of a marauder
in the yard, she kept a basilisk
later in life, i became a dragoon
in my early years, i had been a granger
some say i can be a bit of a tyrant
i can see that my tale
has made you quite tremulous
perhaps with a touch
of trepidation and gloom...
mayhap (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Overmind) we've lost touch (http://www.marvel.com/universe/Overmind) with the overmind (http://www.kheper.net/topics/Aurobindo/Overmind.htm)

..or maybe I'm making a parody of such people. You'll notice that throughout this thread I've made reference to the time-machine that the makers of starship troopers used to steal the idea from the future (since tremulous was made after). Surely this gives you enough reason to believe the thread isn't serious. I also call the 'Big-Bug' in starship troopers a 'cheap-ass copy' even though it is massively more impressive (though far less cute ^^).
The mention of the up-coming movie both acts as an introduction to my joke and serves as a topic in itself.
I could patronize you by explaining my jokes, if you would prefer. :P
Don't take me for a fool when I'm being the jester!
This joke is a deliberate usage of archaic terms to give a contradiction (a fool/jester were both a 'clown' of the middle ages) whereas I also imply the more modern meaning of the word 'fool' (a derogatory term for a person to mean he lacks good judgement). This hidden yet apparently foolish contradiction is seen as intended for the reader to find in this also quite relevant post and enjoyed for this.
On a side note, I've always thought that the basilisk of tremulous fits with the variation of 'basilisk' which bears likeness to the 'cockatrice' of mythology. In my opinion, it's a very good rendition of an alien you might consider to be a cross between a snake and a chicken.
