G-LAN Has Finally Opened It's Website...
We are holding the LAN event in the UK from october with prizes from top sponsors - SteelSeries - Alienware - Imperial - Servers.
also we will have some of the UK's best clans showing theyre faces to compete in the PRO Tournaments.

providing tournaments for the call of duty series - counter-strike series and maybe tremulous
with prizes from
STEELSERIES
ALIENWARE
IMPERIAL-SERVERS
and around 200+ seating
refreshments available
and Fully Badged Security Guarding The Event.

I'd say that was a little un-called for. I'm sure that there may be people who are interested in it but haven't heard. And you call this spam? It is a simple announcement about a lan event posted in the off topic section, that's not spam at all so you should get off his back.

were mainly advertising for people to start registering and so people can keep updated it isnt a 1day thing you know it takes time and planning so its better to get the site active now rather then when everything is done otherwise we will have to wait for the site to get busy once were set-up
so... we prefer to do it this way ty for the suggestion tho

I live in London you see , but no way ill be able to come down to Cambridge unless you guys can pick me up lol. And its really hard to organize these things because maybe a quarter of the Tremulous community are of Great Britain and maybe another quarter of that , that can even reach your facilities to take part in an even like this.
So maybe your proposing to the wrong game, but thanks for informing me and the others.
I have not looked into this but im sure their must be a fps which is overruled by people in Britain :P , you could try their @ Botter.

As I've posted 2 posts back moderate swearing is allowed under current rules. Us moderators can't go around deleting every little flame these days since it's spread too far. Rest at ease that anything way out of bound and out of our control is reported to the admins.

Thanks i think they really needed your help spamming useless flames at some guy who is doing nothing but promoting an event tremulous players MIGHT be interested in.
Its like certain people on these forums think there is a flame shortage and that its all right to substitute actual content.
Any judgments about post counts mean nothing. Its a little trick to get a few before you start advertising and stick around after though, but its not a mandate, and crap can be spewed fourth from people with 1000s of post counts, then the opposite can be true for those with little.

At least don't start assuming stuff and pointing fingers. You were doing well up to this point. If you are going to go around posting to various communities you don't have a lot of experience with you'd do well not to give the few hatemongers who go around spamming every thread the satisfaction of giving them someone to fight with. That won't make our jobs any easier.
As for this thread. Keep it on topic and lay off the flaming. Don't respond to the above just read it and soak it in or make another thread about it. This isn't the thread for continued discussion on those matters.
Some questions:
What venue in cambridge?
Are there costs for attendance?
What numbers are you expecting for attendance?
How long has this been going on?
What kinds of wristbands do you give people and expect them to give back?
Why not just give different colored wrist bands each year?
What could attendees expect as prizes/rewards? (I know sponsors are listed, but what might they be expected to give?.. alienware keyboard?)
Any tentative dates for this?
Sorry if any of that has been answered. I didn't see it anywhere though. Even if you are still planning a tentative answer might encourage people to have more interest.... What are your aspirations for this? I don't live anywhere near the UK myself, so i won't be going but it would be nice to have some kind of trem meet-up, competition. I don't know how many people on this forum that play trem live in the uk though.. i don't suspect its that many.

Just have a look at the site mentioned.
Usually 'Camebridge' stands for quality, but that site is a poor joke. Not only because of the massive errors in spelling, also because nearly 14.000 unique PI have led to not even 25 people registering on that site.
To me this is all a joke and an attempt to copy the G4-lan that failed miserably, heck they are not even registered nor endorsed with any real league.
Did anyone see any info about anything, except for the ones posted here by the spamer?
