Any idea why that happens?

because vista drivers suck? someone said that you could get trem running in xp compatibility mode, and i told you that you should have gotten a mac (or at least xp)

I, however agree with Kevlarman. Had you gotten a Mac, your l33tnezz would have been significantly boosted.
Srsly.

macs are for fags. thanks.
I'm thinking linux would be awesome, but doubting drivers.

Lol. Macs are not for Fags.
Macs run Windoze, Linux, BSD, and about every operating system you can dream of. I have run Windoze XP, Windoze Vista, Ubuntu Linux Fiesty, Ubuntu Linux Edgy, Ubuntu Linux Gutsy. I have also run Sabayon Linux, OpenBSD and Mac OS 10.4 (Tiger) and the Mac OS 10.5 (Leopard) Beta all on my Mac.
Your Windoze can do some, but not all of that.
My point is that with Macs, there are no complications. Your system works, right out of the box. It took five minutes to setup all those operating systems, even though it took hours to install them.
Though Macs are expensive, they're worth it.

I have 3 Gentoo Linux machines here all with ATi graphics (antique on-board Rage 3D Pro, PowerMagic Radeon 8500LE and ATi Mobility Radeon x1600) and all of them work flawlessly. Both Radeons can run Tremulous without any problem, 8500 uses in-kernel driver, x1600 uses fglrx.

Actually, card makers are to blame for the lack of Vista drivers (Although Vista doesn't make it easy for them). Trem + Vista runs fine here. Although I did install it in XP, and later upgraded to Vista. That might affect it.

Card makers are to blame for lack of drivers for any platform. But whenever you say Linux, someone will eventually say it sucks because it doesn't hav drivers.
Come on, Linux has more and better PC drivers now than WVista will have until next YEAR!
And unlike Windows drivers, when a Linux driver gets into stable kernel, it's not going to be dropped until somebody makes a better one. There's no "please wait until the device manufacturer makes a driver for our new system release". Current Linux kernel itself supports more devices and gadgets than the whole DOS/Windows family together including manufacturer drivers.

Try FreeBSD. Pure black and white monochrome display, 80x25 character console at 640x480 resolution. It's awesome! :D
