Title: Marathon, halo(4/5/6) sequel
Post by: AKAnotu on August 15, 2007, 06:21:46 pm: well, back in the 90's, bungie made a game for the Mac known as marathon, which pretty much carried most of the same things as halo2. dual wielding, alt fire, even the skull in oddball mode. Bungie's previous owner stated that the protagonist (a mjolnir mark IV cyborg) and master chief are one and the same. A couple of things also point to this
marathon symbol is on the pillar of autumn
master chief wears Mjolnir armor, has cybernetic enhancements
The markings on the rockets (I dont totally get this one tho)
Your main companion is an AI
so on
well, now bungie released the scource and an emulator for the game at http://source.bungie.org

i'm only at the first save point at the beginning
the beginning is really fun though
you start reading the first logs and BAM! your first three aliens pop up
scared the heck outta me, i was readin the message from the ships AI, and i start taking damage, the thing quits out, and theres an enemy pounding on me

this is supposidly 250 years after halo btw
i posted it because paradox/a lot of other people that i cant name off the top of my head might be interested

Sadly, it kind of lack in gameplay, like Halo. Some really nice artwork and settings though.

Actually, the previous owner said something like, it's very obvious that they are the same person (which might mean that it's so obvious that it's not the same). Also in Marathon you can only dual wield the pistol and (mabey) the shotgun, nothing else. Also the aliens in both games are vastly different, similar, but not the same aliens at all. I'm pretty sure I read that the two take place in different universes, which could explain the similarities, the protagonists could be the alternate universe version of eachother.
