I couldnt find the 5 base locations, but its an OK map, a bit confusing at times maybe.
Also the insides of the main bases were a bit cramped.
But Im impressed with the (large) numbers of cannions.

And a very well balanced one.

I only got two gripes with the map.
1. Jettards. 'Nuff said.
2. The Green Room.
The green room is hard to reach, as the landing platforms are very small, and thus, hard to land on. A Tyrant-proof and goon-resistant human base can be built on the roof of the green room. And the pads that bounce you onto the roof are annoying when entering/leaving the green room, especially because the platforms are so small.

techhead: From main cannon is not too hard to reach. Roof aren't tyrant-proof, main cannon can launch tyrant there, or is possible jump there from bouncing pads. Platforms are small, otherwise humans will be building there like crazy - you must be careful with walking :-) Landing need little practice.
Jettards will be allways problem with this map, but - if is there jettard camper, he missing in main base :-)

Jettards are a big a problem in this map as they are in ATCS.
Annoying, but not really balance breaking.

I found that the bunkers in the middle (the mushroom like thingies) really come in handy with MD jettards. :D

I dont know why people have problems with camping jettards - sure they're annoying but i love getting a Dragoon and pouncing they're ass down!! Then they come out for a second try and i'm just there waiting for those suckers! xD
This map looks like a good map to own those annoying jettards!

Open Tremulous, Create Server, browse the map list
OR
open console (`)
type:
/map (Whatever-the-fuck-the-.pk3-is-called)
Dont put in the brackets.

Nice map...
Its better than Pushcannon_b3 ... o.O
Make something that makes jettards not get the advantage of the game.
Also make 2 emergency cannons outside that operate without buttons.

That said, beta7 is even cooler than beta6. The trains are a beautiful touch to it. Handicap-accessible FTW!!! :tyrant:
Also gives humans a less risky but slower way up to the top.

Somebody trying to bring a cannon map as a novelty, while we all know a cannon map has been created aaaaaaaages ago.

look on the bright side: I LUV ROTCANNON! its fun to jump then land in the "jello" xD lol, the elevator is cool, too. but one thing that i think u should make, is a skybox instead of just a ceiling. then it would look waay cool. xD good job!

Btw, in b8 is bug in alien main cannon, can't lanuch tyrant and goon :-( But this will be fixed in b9 ;-)

Duh, I always do the mistake of just clicking on the download link, and then my browser lags for two minutes while it's trying to read the pk3 as a text file....
EDIT: Can't test this map, Tremulous wont find it..

Make sure you're doing "devmap rotcannon_b9" and not "rotcannon-b9" or simply "rotcannon"

Hee, nice towers. I want to enable building like that by default, but there is one ugly bug :( http://tremulous.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=6107#92259 and nobody know how to fix that.

Well, second entrance in basement was really needed. But still don't know if in final version will be any basement.

Firefox cant normally download b7-b10 files normally (use Right-click->Save link as), but can download older betas. IE can, but renames to zip.

But i agree with most. The betas are coming out about every 5 days or so. slow down. Wait till you get a lot of feedback and then change it. Don't change if you only have a small bit of feedback.

Was enough feedback:
beta 8 = alien cannon bug
beta 9 = only one entrance into basement and stuckable entrance + spectacor jamming, blocking light near entrance into blue/red room, collising metal thing near green room with elevator...
beta 10 = something is wrong with particles, tyrant have problems with moving inside green room, turrets that are builded in main bases on tube can be sometime invisible, same with alien things in green room, plants still haven't transparent edges... But this bugs are not too importatnt. Beta 10 will be there longer time.

the only thing im really concerned about in this map is the extreme cheapness of the green room, and the extreme openness of the outside area

Another bug: if you are under the main basement entrances and look straight up, you can see through a part of the small cover above the entrance.
If this was the main basement entrance:

,*'
then you can see through "/" while below "/|" if the door is open.
Also the doors move parallel to most of the map not parallel to the entrance.

ShadowNinjaDudeMan: try find why is in map name word "beta". If you playing betas lot, then you know that there is many small changes/fixes. Small but importatnt. And that fixes can cause another bugs.
What if worse is disbalance. Is easy make big change in map, another way to main bases, bigger green room etc, but keeping balance between aliens and humans is very hard. What about only small vent to bases? For dretch? Unusable, dretch can't do nothing. Vent for granger? Ok, granger can snipe, better than nothing - but if granger can fit there, human with luci can fit there also and suddently it is human map.
In beta 11 can aliens easy come into base trought all cannons. You can say "it's small change". But its like another way to base. In beta 10 was impossible come with tyrant or goon into base trough small cannons and very hard trough main cannon.
Anyway if you don't want new beta version with one newly aligned texture, then wait to final version.

The more betas the better, in my opinion. Each beta is the result of testing and fixing and testing and fixing. Also, like rotacak said, to test the balance of a map you need more than 1 person, so he should release it to have it tested, and then he can fix the bugs reported to him.
It's a cycle of testing and fixing, and the more betas that he puts out, the more work he's putting in the map and the better you can expect the map to be.

yeah, only prob is that i dont wanna have to dl each newest one cuz it gets tiresome....but i was wondering, dont u hav ur own autodl? if so, all u gotta do, is upload it, but just name it something liek testmap or something, then try and find some bugs...cuz theres gotta be a beta12 now, cuz beta11 has a minor bug...at the loading screen...it still says b10...but its rly b11...

Sorry, but where is this "mission-based" map you speak of? I sure as hell would like to know; there's maybe one or two released maps that can be called mission-based, Rotcannon is not one of them, and I don't know where to find a server playing such mission-based maps.
