R.O.O.M.Y. Alpha3 (My first map)

(^^^^^^pics sorta old so doesnt show the elevator button^^^^^^)
Suppost to be a sorta underground facility. Completely symetrical (i just like things that way).
Just want some comments on it before I finish and find everyone hates.
Known Issues:
Elevator wont stop at warehouse
Dretches can storm warehouse via vents at begining of match
Texture (need more/better ones)
Surface (top area) needs work

To use place in tremulous/base/maps (if you dont have a maps folder make one). Start a server and type /sv_pure 0 (or set it to no in server settings) then /map atcs (anymap doesnt matter) then type /devmap roomy and it should load
Layout pic (ALPHA 3) to give you an idea of complete map

Or just run tremulous and type /sv_pure 0 /devmap roomy
No need to start a server, or do a /map before the /devmap.

thats perfectly fine, tremor did the same thing

Any comments on map or nobody likes what they see from pictures?

Looks ok, but I would really suggest on some more original textures, those get tiring fast. But nice work! :)

a little bit off-topic, but if u type in the console /cg_draw2d 0 the fps, time and "SPECTATOR" is not shown. Just a suggestion. I like the map so far, and you could put in a little ledge thing around some rooms, eg:

Like that^^^. Its small, sloped so you cant stand on it and adds detail to your rooms. also add pipes/random go-nowhere vents (not too many) and light fittings around the ceiling and walls. The box is a V V V Rough Human

Ledges hmmm ill try it out
Redownload map you must have Alpha 1 as alpha 2 has light fittings

ok i dl'd alpha3, but i couldnt find my ledge anywhere, except for a huge 1 in some hallways.

well i dont really like what i see so far
as a rule, i usually dont dl alphas OR a persons first mappings
and your map is both
and dont assume that just because a texture is from atcs, or another default map, that people have it already, that might be why some people cant see your textures.

I needed to pk3 the map before trem would find it.
Make use of shaderlights and not just entity lights
Many areas are way too bright
The skybox is broken
Make the elevator button horizontal
The blocky, right-angle only brushwork and general lack of detail really kills the map. Generally, unless the mapper is an optimisation guru, decent maps don't keep intel graphics at the 60fps cap in all areas.

n00b pl0x your right about people not having textures
Taiyo.uk there isnt actually a sky box (its not broken)
Ill work on detail/textures (and everything else) and hopefully release a final pk3 soon.

youre in alpha and youre going to jump to final? bad move. :roll:
maps _always_ have something that can be tweaked fresh out of alpha stage.
