Tremulous is very fun, but the fact remains that the Alien team always wins.
Suggested solution:
Step 1. Reduce the rate of Alien health regeneration by half, or allow humans to regenerate health at half the rate of the Aliens. Currently, humans don't regenerate at all, and aliens can just camp away from where the fighting is until their health is full.
Step 2. Increase to 125%-200% the number of evo points necessary for a specific upgrade.
Step 3. Make the dretches either bigger or slower.
I think that if at least two of these steps were implemented, the game would be much more balanced. If none of these changes seem like a good idea, fix the ratio of Aliens to Humans at 1:2.

1. Last time I checked, humans cant regenerate health. At least I can't.
2. Stage count is hardly based on evolution points. It's mainly based on total kills per team. And that can be changed with the cvar g_<race>stage<#>threshold
3. Lets just make the rifle cost 50 credits while were at it.

It only favors aliens in public games full of poor players. Humans are very powerful when the team actually works together.
-
Might i suggest you play more before you whine about the game being OMG HUMANS ALWAYS TEH LOOSRS!
-
Thank you for your comments.
-
if you can find a public server where humans actually work together, they often annihilate the aliens.
i was on a server a few weeks ago, both teams had about 3-4 good players and 4-5 others, and the good players on humans wiped the floor with the all the players on the aliens and won about 5 games in a row with ease. keep in mind that most of the players switched teams each game, and it happened every time. However, in my year of playing tremulous, this is only the second or third time ive really seen this happen.
-
Umm even if theirs no teamwork on humans team and aleins suck.. humans still win all it needs is 1 or 2 good players job.. done.. AND a builder lol.
-
DHURVINATOR, i can only assume youre referring to my post, even though your post is completely retarded, therefore totally alienating itself from my own. However:
i was talking about even skill (who the fuck talks about games where all the aliens suck and humans have 3 good players ["2 good players and a builder"] in a thread about balance?)
please, retards, go home.

You all have good points, but I still haven't played a game where the humans won. Maybe you have, but I haven't.
And I've been playing more than a year.
-
that is sad
where the hell do you play

2 games a year huh?

do you play on sst

And I've been playing more than a year.
That is sad, sooo sad. Change the server and go to one where the people actually know how to play.

I think they said it all...
-
I suggest that you play on AA, Beergarden and OPP|ressed
-
R Unlimited CZ, you can have fun building there, and there are a few good players.
As for me its usually 50% aliens/humans victory.
-
Hmm, let me help with that a little.
1. If you can, chase down wounded aliens for the kill. Letting those dudes sit around and heal means that they'll come around again soon. If your team uses teamwork and is more aggressive, you can chase those aliens off of your doormat. If you are wounded, you can retreat and either use your med-kit or walk up to a medistation.
2. They have tons of evolve points because your team died too much. Try not to feed. Teammates don't let teammates feed. When you leave the base, go out as a team and you will survive as a team.
3. Dretches are speedy and small, thats who they are. But they are also fragile, and will die quickly. If you can see them first and hit em, you probably won't have a problem. Only 5 rifle or chaingun hits will kill, 3 lasgun or pulse, 2 flamers, 1 massdriver, shotgun 1-2 shots, and 1 luci spash or mini-luci hit.

Sorry about double post, but this is kinda separate.
Try to play on smaller servers. Tons of people sure is attractive, but the game wasn't really designed for it. Also, play on aliens for a while, and then tell me if the game is rigged.
-
Yes, sst isnt exactly the most human forgiving server:
- Total Games: 8750
- Human Wins: 2939
- Human win percentage: 33%
- Alien Wins: 5109
- Alien win percentage: 58%
That doesn't equal 100%, because there are ties and what not.
-
Try to play on unlagged servers. As I heard on SST the unlagged was turned off, as it gives too much of an advantage for humans. (thats why I am not longer playing there  )...
-
o_O
Unlagged ON gives an advantage to humans. Not Unlagged OFF.
-
Then again, humans on SST need that advantage, just look at that win/loss ratio.

i'm not sure there is a cpu in the world that can handle nexus6+unlagged+more than 35 clients

LOLz
@MaxIBoy: :-? :eek: :roll:
work together
chase down the wounded
the med-kit and medistand are the human "regen"
don't leave base alone so much
play with some better players
or something
holy crap...
Humans can kick Alien ass
I've seen S1 Humans win Tremor in under three minutes
in like a 6v6 situation
where the hell have you been playing?
dretches only have 25 hp
that's five bullets
run backwards and fire the machine gun
it's Quake fer frigg's sake...

The teams have so much unique abilities that you can't just say that one team is balanced over the other. It all depends on how you use them. For example, the lasgunner at very long ranges is unlimited times better than any alien. From close range though, a tyrant mows lone lasgunners down one by one.
The alien win percentage doesn't mean that aliens are easier. It can be explained with a simple fact: All n00bs play as humans, camp in the base or run out feeding, and don't enjoy moving with a dretch to the human base and dying from turrets over and over again. Pros play both aliens and humans. So there you have it, unless you have a server where you can't select teams and reconnect to reselect a team, just say that the skills are unbalanced.

Thank you Captain Obvious!

NO! You don't say!

No.
Step 3. Make the dretches either bigger or slower.
You need t3h skillz t0 pay d4 billz!

What do you mean?
This is the second "I think Trem could be better" post I've seen today. Play the game more and then post a improvements topic.

The alien win percentage doesn't mean that aliens are easier. It can be explained with a simple fact: All n00bs play as humans, camp in the base or run out feeding, and don't enjoy moving with a dretch to the human base and dying from turrets over and over again.
Why exactly do people think that 'All n00bs play as humans'? I remember being a n00b and playing aliens just about all the time. The aliens were the ones that made the game interesting. I'd never seen a game that gave you the ability to crawl on just about all the environment if you wanted to. I couldn't get enough of them. It was a long time before I started to take playing human seriously. So where exactly is the evidence of this 'simple fact'?
The way I see it, n00bs don't play humans more but are just better when they play aliens. That aliens are easier to get kills with as a n00b and so when n00bs play aliens they don't seem so n00bish. This is most likely because the dretch bite and the goon pounce don't require as much timing as they occur automatically when a shot is in range.
Try not to be biased by games where there are good players. Don't get me wrong, if there are n00b aliens against a good player, those aliens are toast. I'm talking about n00bs Vs n00bs. Human n00bs walk into aliens and get killed. Alien n00bs walk into humans and the human gets killed again.

I think Nux may have hit the proverbial nail on its proverbial head there. Aliens are simply easier to play at a newbie level. Although I would guess most players go to humans the very first time they play, after getting pwned by tyrants for a couple of rounds they start to play aliens more and more and learn to love them for their speed, high hitpoint count, and wide attack width. Then gradually as they become better, their favourite team for life is pretty much down to whether they crack the mass driver or the goon pounce-headshot first.
Playing as a human is generally much less forgiving, much more demanding than an alien - but it pays off.
Although, statistics show an impressive drop to a mere 56% (ish, I forget the exact details) alien ratio when some servers experimented with forcing automatic team selection (which is yes, still on their side, but not by much) which does support the common human-noob hypothesis.

Tremulous is very fun
You started out good...
but the fact remains that the Alien team always wins.
only to end up discarding yourself.
SatGNU's statistics:
Games Played 11421
Alien Wins 6417
Human Wins 4918
Tied Matches 86

It's been a week, why couldn't you just let the topic fade away into obscurity???

Because it's a funny thread. It's not like there is anything else amusing in this section.
