I'm brand new to Tremulous and I'm sure most of the innovations you're thinking of deal with the gameplay, but what would be the most kickass feature for me would be if we could create custom skins for the human team. We could create a skin in the editor and then in the menu when you choose human, a window pops up and enables you to load the custom skin from your pc. I just think that would be really cool if you could personalize your character. Also, is there any possible voice chat?? Anyway the game is great, I never expected to see so much innovation in a game using the quake 3 engine, and it's free--this is awesome. :D

welcome to Tremulous :) . Skins would be sweet, but why just humans? I think it would be awesome to modify some things on aliens too, whether it is coloration or whatever. It would be fun to put a blackwidow hourglass on my dretch 8) .

Although it'd be neat, most people have texturing skills just below the ablity of dirt. This of course results in a lot of horrible looking players that distract very much from the 'feel' of the game.
Simple solution is to have lots of custom options for players... but thats a lot of work and not very essential.

As soon as custom skins are allowed, I'm going to edit the skins so that everybody on my screen glows in the dark and is surrounded by large, colour-coded bubbles that show me which way they are facing from around corners.
In other words, don't hold your breath for custom skins. They're a can of worms that won't be allowed in this game.

If you ever find a server with sv_pure 0 you may use custom skins... but I would not bet on that... ;)
Better to make a real neat skin / model and send it to the tremulous devs... maybe it is included in a later release.
Cheers, Danny

They don't have to be custom. I bet it could be done pretty simply, even if it was just taking different pieces of armor (or exoskeleton) and using colorify on Gimp. Just having different shades of armor and alien skin would add a lot of depth to the game, and the player immersion. Maybe something like how you dye your armor in RPGs?

'Camo' type skins for aliens would be fun :D

I suggest to make a "multimodel" model for humans and monsters, and then able to replace head (only the head submodel) by custom ones. Then able to download these custom ones, with a cap of 4K by head image.
This is much more usefull for humans.
Anyway what with game need is not custom skins but gestures with sound, to able more strategic teamwork.
