The core Human and Alien HUD components:

I decided to place the Alien Evo's to the lower-right since a single digit in the 'credit counter' area looked wierd:

The green behind the health gets 'shrunk' as you get injured, revealing yellow near the edges and turning red as you get closer and closer to death. The 'Boosted' and 'Wallclimb' and 'Usable' bits are only 'lit up' when active/true, but are always kept readable. A bit like idiot-lights on a car.
I'll update the mini-screenshots later, but the builder countdown circles down the left side, then up the right side of the 'core HUD' which is kept center-bottom.

For everything with an ammo/build-point count, that count is kept near the crosshairs, except Dragoon barbs are shown graphically in the most accepted 'useful' fashion for using the count as a kind of 'lobbed crosshair' for the arching shots.
And for weapons with a clip (the above number-shot is for the Granger to show build points) the clip count is a smaller number beside the shots-in-the-current-clip number. Keeping ammo very near what you're shooting at is useful to me, so that's where I put it.
Download here. (4kb) (http://wolfwings.us/TremulousHUDNew.zip)
Unzip to your Tremulous\Base folder. It should create a UI folder there.
Bring down the console (press the ~ key), type in
/cg_hudfiles ui/hud.cfg
then press enter.
Now restart Tremulous, viola, new super-minimal HUD.
Sorry it took almost 6 months to remember to post screenshots.

where to install.
I know where, but others dont

Sorry about that, was in a rush (literally catching an airplane) when I posted this initially. :-)
Updated the original post with instructions on usage. Screenshots forthcoming.
-
When i get home, i will upload some pics.
The barb idea is similar to the large crosshair on the Wraith tank in halo.
-
i believe the correct command is: "/cg_hudfiles ui/hud.cfg". an understandable mistake for posting this while boarding a plane.
by the way i just discovered tremulous yesterday and i love it. i already managed to get my whole advanced OS class at school addicted. this is my first post and i was looking into possibilites for playing online with dialup being my only option at home.

Pictures to come later today finally now that I have some spare time and am not rushing to and from the airport.

OK, how about some full screen sshots?

Single and triple digit build points looks weird and I can't stand the granger bp counter blocking the middle of the screen.

Considering the vast majority of the time BP are double-digits, or 0 (in which case, you're not usually a builder anyways) the first complaint doesn't have any way to be addressed.
As for the latter, I actually found the Granger BP-counter top and bottom edges useful for aiming spit-blobs. And the BP-counters ARE transparent, also. Same as the 'Goon barbs.

Is this going to mess up my alien crosshair cheatz?
-
I'm getting the same error with this as I got with PHREAK's hud over there (http://tremulous.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=33500#33500). Any ideas? At the very least, I'd like to have the default hud back.

Stalefries,
to get back to the default HUD type this in console before you join a game:
/cg_hudfiles ui/hud.txt

No one has complained about a custom hud yet? Good god... you mean people say it's alright to totally customize your hud but then say adding a crosshair is cheating?
Some people are fucking retarded. Soon as I get home I'm altering my hud to a minimalist hud and adding a bloody crosshair.
-
I absolutely love this HUD, thanks alot!

this looks terrible.....Why would anyone want it that crammed?

It's actually not crammed at all once you're actually playing. But all the information is contained in one little box at the bottom of your screen, instead of littered all over the place. This means it covers a lot less of the screen, also. :-)
And as I said, this is a truly Minimal HUD, highly visible even playing at 320x200x16-bit against almost all backgrounds in-game except the crosshairs and BP/Ammo counters can blend into some backgrounds.

Like I said, the basic game engine is designed to allow you to modify the HUD. But yes, people claim adding a static image to the Alien HUD is a cheat. I claim those people don't understand the Q3A game engine and that it's designed to have the HUD modified with the UI.qvm the Tremulous developers built.
