Which do you prefer?
-
I like to play both, cause their gameplay is quite different. But I think I played aliens a little bit more often in the last few weeks.
-
I like to play in the both teams, it depends on the map
-
preferably human. why? some points:
I have a small Entomophobia (Fear of insects) so playing as alien kind of creeps me off sometimes (but not allways).
I'am not a melee fighter, kind of too "dangerous" in my mind. ^^
I have a good aim ;)
I like the sound/looking/feeling of the Battlesuite :D
and last, aliens mostly (or at last everytime i play with them) are played by noobs that feed the other team, build crap etc. pp.
-
Sorry you havn't played with many good alien players, you should try the BeerGarden server sometime, there are some good alein players there.

Humans do that too, all too often :(. In fact for humans crap building is more dangerous as human bases need to be far more centralised than aliens (who can have two or three small bases on a map without major problems). And rifle guys are cannon fodder too.

So... playing as an alien is more disgusting to you than being attacked by aliens and seeing them up close ?
-----------
I voted for aliens, because humans are all about camping, abusing splash damage and spamming. They have hard counters to many alien weapons. Campersuits and medikits funlily poison, medikits even make you immune for a while; campersuits can't be grabed properly by basilisk. A human who makes a tactical error, wanders too far from others etc can easily deny aliens a kill (suicide with lucifer, grenade, flamer, wrong place). To humans, enemy defences are basically 'insert ammo to continue' signs. As opposed to aliens, who in 90% cases have to work hard to bring down defences.
(By spamming I mean shooting somewhere - mostly bottlenecks - with no idea if enemy is there or not, just in hope of hitting something).
Aliens have to deal with blocking, but not if you prefer Marauder. I prefer aliens because they take some effort and skill to play, and I can't think of any cheap/boring trick available to them.

I said I OFTEN play in noob alien teams (because i dont want to search 4 a free slot on a server and just take the first that is free), but i played with Elvis and Lava, and I know that there are great alien players.
Still i prefer H, like I prefer playing Humans in WH40k. I just like the design and atmosphere.

Yes it is, being the fear you have doensn't cancel the effect of being scared. But like i said, somedays i play alien also.
-
Clearly aliens. Mostly because I feel most comfortable taking people out with the maurader but also because aliens
1:usually have more skilled people than humans
2: Aliens are less dependant on their base and thus crappy basebuilding (teammates) isn't immediatly deadly.
People really need to learn how to build bases, especially humans but aliens to a lesser extent as well.
-
I like to play as either ... they both have their strengths and weaknesses.
-
Aliens. Definitely Aliens.
I'm still not great with Aliens, and I'm still figuring out how to take down bases with them, but I like them a lot better.
They move so much faster. A marauder can fly faster than most human players can track me -- I can fly right into a pack of humans without being hit, after I'm there and messin' with everyone, well, that's a different matter. However, I get regen, and I can fly out in a similar manner.
Quake3 is still one of my favorite games, because of the speed and intensity. I also always preferred the gauntlet to the machine gun (I habitually switch to boxing mode and go for humiliations until I can get rockets or the rail, or the like). So, I don't mind the melee combat, or at least, I don't see it as a huge disadvantage, since it is pretty easy to get into range.
Playing as humans feels like playing a level of Quake1 filled with fiends and -speed turned on, permanently. Not a bad thing, because it is, in fact, good game ballance, I just like speed and stealth more than firepower.

aliens are just so stinking fun. I love to play a dretch and go through a room with 6 humans and just crawl all around and between them and then run out without getting hit once, while they all have gone through 2+ clips. something is just fun about relying on speed, small size, and tactics to live, rather than having many hit points or the ability to sit far away from your enemy and shoot at them from a distance with little danger to yourself.
on the other hand, battlesuits are fun, and i must say that I enjoy the intensity of playing as humans, because the way the aliens move and attack it really feels like some crazy alien/horror film, especially when a marauder jumps in and bites one of your friends and then vanishes down the hall before you can get a shot off. also, the battlesuits feel (to me) very much like the mechs in The Matrix when you have a chaingun equipped and aliens are pouring in from all over. tons of fun either way...

I use auto-assign for the team selection so I don't really get a choice, but I prefer Aliens.
Nothing quite like hurtling around at 50mph with a warped perspective...just wished the other alien 'classes' kept it :(
-
Auto-assign all the way baby.
-
I like goofing around with a psaw or an mdriver as humans a lot, but I ussually play both equally, i think :P
-
<3 shotgun
-
It depends on the map, and the noobs on the teams
-
Right now, I'm leaning a bit towards the humans.
I am much better with the rifle than with the Dretch, and I can often take out a moderately skilled Dretch before he gets me.
Also, to tell the truth, I am a real jettard. I love flying around. Although low ceilings often get me killed, it's worth it when you can soar just above a Tyrant's reach, and watch him swat at you while you empty a few magazines into him.
Really, I have a hell of a time with the Dretch. I often lag just enough so that it makes getting bites to register difficult. The Maurader and the Dragoon are frickin' sweet, though.
The Maurader is fun because of the way it can just bounce around to the point of being difficult to shoot, and although I haven't tried yet, I have seen some very impressive assaults on telenodes, generators, and armories.
The Dragoon is also a lot of fun for me. The pouncing reminds me a lot of laser-jumping (similar to rocket-jumping) in Nexuiz, which was my main specialty there.
-
Painsaw/Jetpack is the best thing in the game. :D
-
C'mon. Who doesn't enjoy shooting stuff while playing as human. BOOM!
But I like playing as a dretch sometimes. It's funny when you're wallwalking like mad, dodging chainguns, pulse rifles, and lucifer cannons, depleting their ammo until they run back to their base.
-
Aliens have a high skill ceiling and every alien's playstyle is unique.
But humans have the Battlesuit. Sorry xeno sympathizers, but seeing a conga-line of bsuits rushing towards the enemy's base was peak Tremulous. That shit would get your blood pumping.
PS. regarding necro-posting: i always thought this rule FUCKING SUCKED. the moderators on Tremulous.net are forever welcome to jostle the deepest part of my anus. i finally won
