What is up
Seeing as how every new topic i put out seems to magically lock itsself, i decided to go with a new format. Just wanted to find out what music genre all you people liked and mayb get someone to put some awesome music in trem. If your too lazy to type theres a poll and if you cant find your music style in there write it down and ill try to update the poll
-
Where's "Other"?
I don't see Post-Grunge. Or Symphonic Metal.
Whatever. Post grunge and classical.
To narrow it down to bands and songs:
Alter Bridge (Metalingus).
Shinedown (.45).
Skillet (Whispers In The Dark, Comatose, Rebirth and Collide).
Bethoven.
Most other classical artists.
-
right on bro ill get on it
-
wow this is kind of embarassing how do you change the poll
-
Unfortunately, due to the poor yet clever design of PHP you can't even add options to a poll after someone has voted.
-
wow this is kind of embarassing how do you change the poll
As a super awesome moderator I can modify your poll for you. Just let me know what exactly you want done to it.

or he could edit it himself (or i could rearrange the options so everyone loves metal and hates everything else)
-

What, pray tell, is wrong with classical music?
And as for me, I've been listening to a lot of straight-out hard rock and other things closely related to it lately (early Weezer, Local H, and Hum in particular). I don't really have any favorite genres, just favorite artists who do their particular genre very well.
-
Menomena
Pinback
Cartel
Interpol
Voxtrot
Jurassic 5
Third Eye Blind
The Hush Sound
The poll needs a category for indierock.
-
Rise against
i'd high five you, but you don't seem to be very happy with me right now.
-
Wtf wheres electronic music???? (Techno,Trance,Electro,House, etc etc)
-
Seeing as how every new topic i put out seems to magically lock itsself
Mabey it has to do with the flames you post in them?
I voted for classical because there was no option for orchestral.
-
Wow! ShitOnWheels did another post, w/o having even the slightest clue about music.
There is so much missing, it's again total BS.
-
Your list is incomplete. I refuse to take part in a poll submitted by someone with such a closed mind!
-

All anyone was asking for was an "other" category lol.
-

Alter Bridge is better dude. The same people playing the instruments, and the singer is 100x better. His voice is amazing.

I checked out that band Snow Patrol. What a bunch of wussies. "I'll just lay here in the dirt and whine, 'cuz I'm so emo it makes me cry." Every freakin' video is a dude whining like he's never been laid and his dog just shit on his shoes. One step beyond lame...

i use that band to relax and sleep if my roomate is snoring.
some harder bands to add to my list:
protest the hero (songs: Blindfolds Aside, Heretics and Killers)
killswitch engage (their newer singer's voice is so powerful) (songs: The Arms of Sorrow, The End Of Heartache, My Curse)

yeah i know but you have to have a favorite i could list off like 100 bands off the top of my head that i listen to on a regular basis
i tried to limit myself to just what's on the shuffle as albums (or e-mail's from this week), but there are lots of other bands on there too
i didn't even start listing the CDs or cassettes or MP3s or iTunes or LPs:
boogaloo, hard bop, BBQ, soul/acid jazz, metal, surf, soul, ska, bossanova, classical, jam bands, blues, west coast jazz, cool jazz, Hammond B3 jazz, boogie, 60s, 70s, 80s & 90s (just the CDs that I can see without getting up or trying too hard)
Slayer
Iron Maiden
Metallica
Megadeth
Disturbed
Manowar
Anthrax

any way anyone down with MxPx
if you're looking for Christian rock, Red and 12 Stones are 2 bands off the top of my head that are better.
-
Add to the list underoath and skillet and the almost
-
Then take Underoath and Skillet back off (except very early Skillet, which was tolerable), and put Ghoti Hook and maybe Reality Check on there. I'll leave The Almost alone because I haven't really heard of them.

so you're keeping red and 12 stones on there, right?

According to Wikipedia, Red is nu-metal and the singer from 12 Stones was featured on "Bring Me to Life" by Evanescence--two very big strikes there. I guess I could still give them the benefit of the doubt, but it'd be a hell of a benefit.
(Bottom line, though, is that no music can really be classified as "bad" no matter how simple, popular, unpopular, repetitive, or seemingly stupid it is. The perspective of someone who's studied music theory for half his life and can name-drop bands that haven't even formed yet is no better than that of someone who downloaded ten Limp Bizkit songs from Limewire and calls them their favorite band. If you enjoy it, it's good music to you, and that's what matters; there's no objective standard of quality. It's just really hard for me to keep that perspective in mind at all times, so I content myself with halfheartedly ridiculing music I don't like. Just know that it's just fun and I don't really hate it deep in the core of me. :) )
