I wan't to map but i ran out of ideas :(
If you have a design or wan't to make one i'll be happy too make it :)

I mean one where there are separate areas for bases, which consist of just spawns, and they teleport out into a big arena where you can duke it out. Come on, all the cool kids are doing it!

Sounds fun! Just a big arena where people charge from one end to their enemies, the humans take down lots of the aliens but when the rest reach them they have a killing spree. YAY!

Sounds pretty cool and do-able, it would be even cooler if someone could compile a small mod so aliens don't have the sense so they can't track down the humans.

YES! Make a map in which the whole map is a public bathroom and the sewers(humans start in bathroom, aliens in sewers) and make the toilets teleport you to the sewers! Then the aliens crawl back up the u-bend like incy wincy spider and eat the humans who are going in the middle of a battle.

I tell you what needs to be done in order to be a good map.
Have all the map makers join in to make 1 map!
1 person starts off from basic and just build the base, zip it up and upload or send to another person to add designs, send to the next person to add some kind of sound or earthquakes lava, and send it off to the next person.
See where I am getting have everyone work on 1 good map and have all the ideas in 1 that way it can be tested and commented on by others of what they think.

That's been done before. The problem is that most people have different ideas about how the level should look and play. As a result, the map becomes an ugly hodgepodge of theme and layout because everyone did their own thing.
I think it'd be fun to give it a shot, though. Just make sure you have very clear direction.

Very nice map layout, but it looks way to easy to camp in that cul-de-sac of a Human base. That, and the vents look REALLY hard to get into for anything that can't wall-walk.
Actually, you have a bunch of rooms with cul-de-sacs (except for vents). Might be too easy to set up bases there.

thats why the air ducts are big enough for tyrants. the tyrants can get in them from the alien base and some of the empty rooms but not from the big room in front of the human base. and the humans are supposed to "camp" in the base. or if players don't like that they will have plenty of time to relocate to a more, defenseless spot as long as 3 or 4 people guard 2 or 3 builders.

The humans need another entrance into their base especially with that camping hallway. The base and hallway are too easy to defend. And if tyrants can get into air ducts the next thing we know is that dretches will be born from humans.

Why not call them maintenance corridors?
In that case, the only problem would be with the default human base. Who is going to move a base if their original has near-perfect defense?
