Is it possible to run a Tremulous server and play in it in the same computer?

Yes, simply run tremded, start some map and then run tremulous and connect to 127.0.0.1

Yes, you can... but I'm pretty sure you need a really fast CPU for the server to run happily.  Or, at least, 2 cores.  Is dual-core a baseline standard these days?  I'm a little out of touch... I use an IBM Thinkpad G41 laptop with a single P4 3.33 GHz CPU.  It's a real monster, but I suspect most modern dual-cores could out-perform it.  It's one of the few laptops with a "real" GPU built-in, though, which is why I like it.

Wow, that went off-topic real fast.

Anyone run a server and client on the same machine with good results?  What are your machine specs?

I have a Pentium 4 CPU 3.00GHz with 1,25 GB of RAM. Is it enough?

Anyway, when I run temded like next_ghost said I simply get a white screen

 :-?

Would it be tremserver.bat, what I should run?

I could play, but as a local server. Can't I make an internet server so my friends and I can play together?

If you want only your friends to connect, then you shouldn't want to be on the master server list, or you will get a lot of unwanted ping requests. Simply start Tremulous, type /map niveus (or similar). Give your IP to your friends, and they should type /connect <your_IP>.

I've had no trouble running a temporary server (less than 10 people) on a 2.4GHz P4 with only 256MB of RAM, while playing on that computer. It got a little laggy during rushes with near full build points. But game play wise, it was quite splendid compared to what I had predicted.

Hi YourMama! Thanks for posting!

Could you please explain exactly whats should I do to run an internet server and play in it in the same computer?

I managed to do it with two computers, but not in the same one...   :(

This is for a temporary server, not dedicated:

1. Start Tremulous and run your server (Create Server)
2. Minimize that window
3. Open up another Tremulous client
4. Switch to "LAN"
5. Connect to your server
6. Type "/showip" in the console
7. Give that IP to your friends and tell them to connect ("/connect 127.0.0.1")

That should work fine, and hopefully won't lag much. Since you're on the same computer, try to keep the settings moderate (i.e. - Don't use 10000 build points with 25 of your friends connected).

I used to run NT|ClanServer/BallClanServer/-GH-Server and stuff like that on my own computer and play on that computer as well.

My computer has:

2 GB RAM
2.66 GHz Dual-Core Intel CPU

I was able to hold 20-ish people on the server without much lag.  And I think to go onto my own server I had to add it to favorites and click "Get new list" every time.  Then it appeared in it's name and all.  I do run Vista though, which might make a difference.
