+===================+
Lonely human builder, after a long and exhausting battle with aliens on Niveus, ran away when his base was going down. In some weird way, he managed to pass through a ventilation tunnel near the upper part of the default alien base. He built a new human base in the new found location and thought he and his team are safe. He was wrong. Aliens, after a long time spent on looking for the human runner, smelled human sweat near the ventilation tunnel mentioned before. They couldn't pass with any attacker class, so they sent a granger to build their base there. The mission succeeded. Now it's time to begin a new battle... somewhere...
Far Beyond...

Full map name:  Far Beyond
BSP name:  far_beyond
Author:  kaziorvb
Release date:  Sept. 29, 2007
Build time:  about 20 days with breaks
Compile time:  about 10 minutes
Radiant version:  1.5.0
Textures:  Niveus textures set  +  custom 'Mapping competition' texture

Special thanks to:  all the testers helping me to fix some glitches before final release

Made for Kaleo's Mapping Competition 2

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thoughts:

It is a good map... There are lots of details and he has made good use of the Niveus texture set. There are particles, flashing lights and lifts. I do, however have a few thoughts on the con side:
• The lighting is a bit erratic
• Some patches have been stretched
• The lift button in the dirt room is frustrating, hard to see and   has no wait, so you cant really get on the lift without help
• He has gone a bit over the top with the light flares

Other than these cons, this is an awesome map... I'd say good for a 12+ player game. Quite big.

Also congrats to the runner up, Groove for his map SFUM [Seriously Fucked Up Metal].

SFUM - Groove

Thoughts:

I like it. It is obvious that he didn't have the time he wanted to finish it, but give him another week and we would have one of the best maps Tremulous would've seen. He really should release a final after Judgment.

The MapPack will be avaliable for download in a few hours.

None of the other judges got back to me...

Though I'm sure they would agree with me.

And [A], how did you play it a week ago?

That is no way to go about things. You are the one that set it up so in part you should coordinate the effort. And saying you are sure they would agree with you is directly opposite to the point of having several judges. They should all have a different way of looking on things.

I pm'ed all the judges saying to congregate on DASPRiDs irc, and I was on there quite a bit waiting...

Technical difficult i guess.

Can I ask did anyone actually judge apart from Kaleo? This seems like a one sided argument.

I think I've fixed most of Sfum's problems, and I've uploaded a sort of unofficial update here http://rapidshare.com/files/61676528/mapping-competition-2007-mappack.pk3.html There are still some z-fights and leaks, but I fixed the most major hinderance to gameplay which was a "nodraw" brush that allowed aliens to reach the outside scenery. I'm very tired of this project and so I'm not going to fix any other bugs for now.

Kazior, amazing map. Keep it up.
